S**t people do on Rue Crémieux

I've just been reading a story about Rue Crémieux, a beautiful street in Paris where the residents are getting sick of Instagrammers constantly taking photos there all day long. They're actually going to ask the local council to install a gate so the street can be closed during certain hours.

As a Londoner I'm used to seeing a lot of tourists, but they're mainly in the centre of town, not on the street where I live. I currently live in an unremarkable area, but I used to live somewhere where people kept hanging around our street and I felt unsafe.

Now I'm sure some of you will be saying "Don't live in beautiful street if you don't want tourists taking photos" but some of their behaviour looks very intrusive. A local resident has set up their own Instagram account, "Shit people do rue Crémieux" and there are actually people standing up against front doors, seemingly with a complete lack of acknowledgement that people live there. I know there's always going to be tourists but this does seem excessive for a residential street. www.instagram.com/clubcremieux/

What do you all make of this?

I have to say I'd be pissed off if I lived there and this stuff went on every evening.

I'm quite surprised by the filming of music videos - usually when there's some kind of filming going on in London, they tend to book in advance so people who live or work nearby can be warned in advance of any road closures. The behaviour in these photos seems so presumptuous and entitled. I've had my photo taken in various public places but it would never even occur to me to do yoga poses right up against a complete stranger's front door.

Yes I remember that. But also "Tourists have even knocked on doors and asked forselfieswith locals" is just a little bit creepy! I cannot imagine someone actually knocking on my door and asking for a selfie with me, a complete stranger. I'd think they were either a scammer of some sort, or were taking part in a TV prank show. I've visited all sorts of beautiful locations across the UK and it would never occur to me to actually knock on someone's door. Like "Corfe Castle is so pretty, can I have a selfie with you?" How about no!
