Business idea around weddings - please give me your thoughts

Ok, so I imagine this is going to be a marmite idea and you will either like or think totally stupid.

I’m trying to establish whether it’s ovwrwhelminfly on the “totally stupid” side.

I went to the US and in one of the backwater towns that we travelled through I picked up a haul of the most astonishing bridesmaid dresses you can imagine. Think lime green polyester; purple shiny monstrosity; peach puffball. I have since contacted the shop since returning home and we have built up a relationship. They don’t sell these dresses tongue in cheek. They sell them seriously and they do sell in this part of the US. The shop would be willing to supply me.

I’m thinking of starting up a small online business selling quirky bridesmaids dresses for brides who want to inject a bit of humour in to their wedding.

I appreciate very niche market! But what do you think? Does it have legs?

This is not a profitable idea.

I used to work in the industry, as per pp most people DON'T have a sense of humour on their wedding outfits, even if they did they can easily obtain bad taste/outdated colours and styles from the Far East very easily and cheaply!

"There is no middle man" pretty certain you'll find the shop are buying them in probably from China not making them up themselves.

MAYBE a small amount of interest in the fancy dress market but most people won't pay those prices for fancy dress.
