Swing set question?

Dont know where to post this but its my sons birthday on sunday and he is desperate for a swing set. Do they really need cementing into the ground? Im a single parent so no partner
to help and wouldnt have a clue how to do it or even to do it by myself. Has anyone seen one that doesnt need cementing or has anyone got one and not cemented it to the ground?

I mean when my kids were young (20 years ago) it would never have occurred to us to cement one into the ground. Ours wasn't and no harm came to anyone, but that doesn't mean it was a particularly good idea.

if It’s a lightweight metal one it can tip if not secured and the kid swings high enough. We gave a large (4 swing) wooden one that’s bedded itself in 😳 but it’s supppsed to be cemented 30cm into ground

Depends on the size, toddler ones are ok but bigger ones need to be secured. Is it really worth having one in the garden though? We had a tyre hanging from the tree and it was rarely used once the novelty wore off

We have one that has two swings and a seesaw thing, and we don't cement it in. It has really large pegs that dig into the lawn. If there are 3 kids on it really going for it, you can begin to see them sliding out, but nothing that panics me - and you can hammer them back in.
My kids are 5 and 4 though, so I'm not sure how it will do by the time they are older/bigger and if then perhaps it will need securing a bit more. But we would unlikely cement and more likely get rid!

We have the wooden plum swing set and definitely doesn’t need cementing into the ground. It wasn’t expensive.
I imagine the light plastic ones would definitely move about a lot with the weight of an 8 year old on tho. It depends how old your child is x

Please make sure your dc can't twist the ropes - think you can get plastic tubes to wrap round them -
Came home from work one day and ds had twisted the ropes and slipped down. He was being hanged - dh hadn't seen through the washing. I had to cut him down with a knife..
He still remembers... He was about 8.

Oh thats really bad Easterbunnyiscomingsoon will have a look at the plastic tubes.

I dont want to get one to be honest it seems too much head ache but he has been asking since his last birthday! he is turning 5 but I also have a 6 and 7 year old that will want to use it.
