She’s 3 and it’s the first one she’s had. Her little face.
I have health anxiety and it’s really stressing me out it could be something terrible. It’s just a vomiting bug more than likely isn’t it? Her stomach aches but no temperature or anything at the moment.

You have my sympathy. Both my DC have it, aged 5 and 1. It’s the time of year for winter vomiting bugs and that is most likely what she has. Keep her hydrated with small sips of water and she should hopefully be feeling better soon

ColeHawlins · 06/03/2019 06:04

t’s just a vomiting bug more than likely isn’t it?

Yes, absolutely. If it looks like a vomiting bug, the overwhelming chances are that's what it is.

Mmmhmmokdear · 06/03/2019 09:43

I've got both mine home with it today, poor things. It's going round.

My two have just had it, no fever. One of them was even managing to eat. It passed in 3 days for my toddler, the baby had it slightly longer. The vomiting stopped after one day for both though.
Hope she's feeling better soon, remember lots of hand washing, don't share hand towels etc. Neither my partner or I caught it.

Hopelesscase28 · 06/03/2019 10:45

I think we will all get it as she’s not too good at giving me any notice. Consequently she’s been sick all over me, all over the carpet, all over the sofas etc.
She’s still being sick every fifteen minutes and can’t keep anything down at all. When do I worry?

Try full fat coke. Honestly it was originally medical.... Pick me up.
It contains sugar, caffeine and minerals.
Get a bowl... As you know she will be sick anyway. Feed her a glassful of slightly flat coke, hold the bowl, if she hasn't thrown it upon five mins she won't.
The coke actually makes you feel better due to the ingredients, with mine I did this twice, if they had been sick, it seemed to sort of wash the bug out , and no one else seemed to get it ..
I know lots of you are now going to shout at me over this, but I have a massive family group and we have always done this as our gran did, none of my family ever have a tummy bug for more than a day.

hiphopapotamuses · 06/03/2019 11:23

@Hopelesscase28 my two were both sick on me and the baby sprayed me in poo when she coughed mid nappy change. I didn't get it (it's been a week since it started) just observe rigorous hygiene.
regarding fluids try to syringe 5ml of water, then wait 5 mins and do another if she keeps the first down and keep going with that. If she's not keeping that down then contact your GP or a pharmacist for advice (I'm not medically trained just passing on the advice I was given last week so if in doubt definitely speak to your GP/pharmacy/111)

Shufflebumnessie · 06/03/2019 11:33

It's absolutely horrible to see your children poorly.
DD came down with a vomiting bug on Monday night (her 2nd birthday!!!). I have so much washing piled up as we've gone through so much bedding and pyjamas. The washing machine doesn't know what's hit it!!
Hope your DD is feeling much better very soon.

Purplelion · 06/03/2019 13:37

My 20 month old has just recovered from a 5 day bout of Norovirus.
The doctor said don’t worry about food and just get fluids into her, any fluid she will take. She was sick every 20 minutes from Friday -Yesterday which sounds awful!she took water from a syringe every few minutes and today is 100% back to normal!

ColeHawlins · 06/03/2019 14:28

If she stops weeing, then she needs to see a doctor. It's unlikely to happen, though.

Hopelesscase28 · 06/03/2019 14:29

Hasn’t had a wee since about 6am. How long do I leave her?

Lightsabre · 06/03/2019 14:30

Perhaps call your GP surgery for advice?

FrozenMargarita17 · 06/03/2019 14:31

Ahh bless her. You could get some dioralyte for her.

I would def call GP if she isn't weeing

ColeHawlins · 06/03/2019 15:14

How does she seem otherwise? Call 111 if you're concerned.

Hopelesscase28 · 06/03/2019 17:04

She’s picked up - she had a can of regular coke (thanks for that tip) and she’s just had three ice lollies. She doesn’t want anything ‘proper’ to eat but I’m happy she’s had some fluids and she’s not been sick for a few hours.
Just hoping to avoid it myself now!

Lots of water, slowly sipped and flat coke. No dairy for a good 24 hours as it may set her off again. When she's ready for food, try toast and in small amounts, little and often so her digestive system can cope.

Lollies and things like sugary jelly are perfect.

You sound like you're managing it well.

troppibambini · 06/03/2019 17:24

That's a really good sign just keep doing what you're doing sounds like you're doing everything she needs don't worry about food just lots of fluids and lolliesSmile

Lavenderdays · 06/03/2019 20:37

Hopeless, my dd (12 months) has it, though I'm not totally convinced and think it may be to do with teething. I took her to the GP and her temperature etc. is normal. I have health anxiety too and my anxiety has gone through the roof with this, dd is eating a bit better today but this bug has lingered and has not been just a 24 hour thing.

Niceandspicy · 06/03/2019 20:56

I have health anxiety too and it used to be really bad when one of my children was poorly so you have my sympathy OP. All I will say is now mine are all teenagers it's definitely easier and not so scary when they're ill so it does get better. Glad your DD seems to be on the mend Smile

Hopelesscase28 · 06/03/2019 21:02

Thanks all.
Yes she seemed pretty much back to normal by this evening, I’m shattered though! 4am is too early to be getting up...

Hope others with children with similar bugs also pick up soon.
