What are you having on your pancakes?

Going to pop to the shops for pancake batter ingredients and toppings. What are you planning to have?
I usually just go traditional lemon and sugar but wondering about some cheesy ones? Or maybe Nutella?

We are having savoury followed by sweet.

Savoury = pesto, ham and cheese

Sweet = banana, strawberry, melted chocolate and whipped cream

MsMustDoBetter · 05/03/2019 18:22

Lemon and sugar.

Musicalmistress · 05/03/2019 18:37

Our house is traditionally cheese & syrup - sounds bizarre I know but as DD says ‘don’t knock it till you’ve tried it’

Savoury is Chinese prawn with beansprouts, pepper and baby corn.

Sweet will be sugar and lemon (of course).

UnicornRainbowsRain · 05/03/2019 18:46

Sausages
Butter
Nutella
Fruit salad
Fresh lemon juice
Sugar

Was the menu tonight. Mix at will!

MaMisled · 05/03/2019 18:48

Strawberries, lemon juice and Choc Shot. Pancakes are made with skimmed milk and wholewheat flour to help DD 22 shed a few lbs.

Ftumch · 05/03/2019 18:54

We had maple syrup or peanut butter and banana for breakfast and cheese and bacon or mushroom for dinner then a combination of peanut butter, bananas, biscoff spread, marshmallow fluff and cream for pudding. I like pancake day.

GirlOnIt · 05/03/2019 19:05

Dp says I'm a little odd but he will only eat sweet pancakes. But in my family it was always, savoury pancake with onion gravy, followed by sweet pancake with lemon sugar or golden syrup.
I also had pancake with Nutella strawberries and banana for my breakfast.

I love pancakes 🥞

CakeNinja · 05/03/2019 19:07

Dc have just had theirs. I put out raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, squirty cream, marshmallows, marshmallow fluff, chocolate buttons, jam, lemon, sugar, maple syrup, they made their own chocolate sauce, something else I forgot... there were some interesting combinations Grin
Dp and I are having savoury ones soon, steak, mushroom and gruyere cooked with Creme fraiche, and some goats cheese and leek ones. Yum 😋

We had ours earlier before dh had to go to work.
I will only ever have lemon and sugar on pancakes. To me anything else is wrong. Dh likes syrup and ice cream. This year ds refused to have a single forkful, the past two years he loved them and wanted more than we were prepared to let him have. But today he didn't want any at all. Not sure why at all.

Hiddenaspie1973 · 05/03/2019 19:21

Maple syrup, squirty cream, raspberries
Nutella
Golden syrup

SquitMcJit · 05/03/2019 19:24

Cheese and marmite. Quick smear of marmite on hot pancake and handful of grated cheese, roll up, devour.

Dreamzcancometrue · 05/03/2019 19:25

Lemon juice.

ifyoulikepinacolada · 05/03/2019 19:25

Grated apple, greek yoghurt, hazelnuts, cinnamon and maple syrup. YUM.

Mumski45 · 05/03/2019 19:26

My favourite is walnuts honey and cheese. Feta if available but any cheese will do. Lovely mix of sweet and savoury.

whymewhynow · 05/03/2019 19:27

Ricotta and chopped spinach on the savoury, nutella and crunchy peanut butter on the sweet Star

fleshmarketclose · 05/03/2019 19:30

orange on mine, dd has hers plain, ds doesn't eat them.

Allyg1185 · 05/03/2019 19:31

Ds had chocolate spread. Dh and I jad butter and jam

Dillyson · 05/03/2019 19:31

Sliced banana fried in the pan with the batter, then banana liqueur and squirty cream. Bloody lovely!

BrexitIsComing · 05/03/2019 19:32

DH & I had maple syrup. DD had chocolate spread & an enormous mutant strawberry.

I like the sound of walnuts with honey & cheese. I wonder if that would work with Wensleydale...

ScarletBitch · 05/03/2019 20:45

Only my eldest likes them but I have Bananas, Chocolate sauce and cream!

RandomUsernameHere · 05/03/2019 20:50

Grated cheddar, Nutella (not at the same time)!

mathanxiety · 05/03/2019 21:00

Sugar and lemon juice on crepes. Yum.

SenecaFalls · 05/03/2019 22:09

I like crepes, but being American, I don't really think of them as pancakes. They are an entirely different food.

I posted earlier that we were having maple syrup on our American pancakes, but I've decided that in honor of Mardi Gras I'm going to make a Bananas Foster topping for the pancakes minus the flaming rum.

Niveous · 05/03/2019 22:12

Crepes with lemon and sugar. I refuse to countenance anything else on Shrove Tuesday.
