Mouse in my bedroom!!!

Been trying to sleep for the last hour, keep hearing a mouse scratching around. Just turned the lights on and it jumped out from behind the bedside table and disappeared.

It's currently scuttling around again under the floorboards.

Any tips on coaxing it back out so I can catch it??? I'm getting no sleep otherwise.

Borrow a cat or a snake.

Just saw it again!!! Jumped onto the plug socket under the bed and back out again. I think it's getting out from a home in the floor under the bed. May have to move my bed to the other side of the room

There is never just one

You can get humane traps quite cheap from places like Homebase etc. It won't come near you so don't worry to much about it tonight. Get a trap to catch it tomorrow and then try and find the hole or way in to cover it up. I had a couple come in through the hole for my outside pipe. I have a feisty rescue cat who ate two before I could buy a trap and I've had no others since I filled in around the pipe with polyfiller (either that or word got out about my murderous cat)

A little mouse won't hurt you. Set traps tomorrow.

(I spotted one earlier today myself. We get them every winter it seems, probably because we're untidy.)

Don't bother with a cat - that's how mice end up in my house, brought (alive) as loving gifts. I've had two deposited under my bed. It's a King-size divan so impossible to move - I didn't see them though, they were too scared to come out so I think it's unlikely they'll crawl over you in the night.

I had to use traps. I was going to use the humane ones but read something about them actually being worse than just finishing them off quickly in a standard mousetrap, so I bought one of those from screwfix and caught them the next day. They like nutella.

Ah the bugger is at home. You may have an infestation, my friend.

honeylane · 05/03/2019 00:56

Definitely more than one, maybe at least three. Have been sitting next to their hole for an hour trying to coax them out with dog kibble. They keep popping out and grabbing it before I can get them.

Have noticed that scratching the floor and shining a light down there encourages them, so trying to build up a rapport.

Have some humane traps from amazon arriving tomorrow, but the scratching will keep me awake all night.

Make sure you take them at least a mile away from your home or they'll just come back!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 05/03/2019 07:42

Sounds like you've made them your pets!Grin If you have an empty Pringles tube around, you can tempt them into that then tip it upright, put the lid on and take them outdoors. (We have a generous loving cat that likes to bring us gifts too.) Just as an interim measure till the traps arrive.
