Does this sound like an excessive amount of sleep?

I had around 14 hours of sleep last night and couldn't rouse myself this morning to wake up at all. I ended up getting out of bed at midday as I just felt so tired.

Got up, had a bath and lunch and fell asleep again at about half 4, I've only just woken up but only because I have to. I still feel tired and could probably carry on sleeping.

Does this sound excessive to anyone else or is it just me? I totally get that 3rd trimester fatigue exists but this is ridiculous Confused

I am 30 weeks pregnant, should I be worried?

It’s a lot of sleep, but I wouldn’t worry. Congratulations!

What's your bloods like? It might be anaemia, which you need to have diagnosed and treated. I'd certainly say it's worth a visit to your GP/call to the midwives, as there's tired and then there's sleeping for what sounds like about 20 out of 24 hours.

@RickOShay thank you!

It's totally confusing, some days I wake up at a usual time and then other days I sleep for the majority of the day/into the night Hmm

@MitziK last bloods they said I was "slightly" anemic but that this was due to an increased amount of blood in the body during pregnancy.

I wasn't given anything for it..

Once in a while I do this, usually when I've felt a touch peaky and I wake feeling better. Sometimes you're over tired and catch up on a deficit...
if it happens often then you may have a deficiency and I'd get it checked

jcmayj · 04/03/2019 18:58

@PrismGuile it definitely happens more than it should, feel so unproductive and I never get anything done around the house on days like this.. Sad

It'll be worth getting it checked again, then, as it could have worsened since your last test.

I worked up until 2 weeks before DC born. Once on maternity leave - shattered - really shattered Grin - check with Midwife / Doctor all well , but shortly before birth tiredness I would not say is a dreadful thing but all day sleeping sounds not typical. I was v short after pregnancy of Vitamin D - but don't prescribe yourself , ask. I agree with PPs - go and get yourself checked that there is not something you could easily & safely have prior to baby's birth.
