Would my employer make a ML exception?

We planned this baby so no suprise there's,but it had taken us so long that we didn't think we'd get lucky this month! I started my new job 18 days shy of the qualifying period for ML.... Do you think they'd be nice to make an exception? It's only 12 weeks so not a massive loss either way.

There's no HR! Everything is done by one of the owners.. even my time off is not approved by my line manager but him. He give small of our payslips personally. Yes, they're smallish but they're not poor. They're expanding and that's why they hired me, because I'm supposed to help with that but had to start in the entry level role.

Qualifying for smp is related to if you were on your period before starting a new job? Am I reading that right or have I had a few too many for a Monday?

Me I think the PP is just oversimplifying it for explanatory purposes. EWC up to dating scan is calculated on LMP, so there’s something in it (even just roughly).

@meandmetoo Mat pay eligibility is based on your estimated week of conception. Which is based on when your last period was. If you joined a company before the last period when you got pregnant your EWC will mean that you qualify for SMP. If you didn’t then it’s likely you won’t qualify for stat mat pay and you will have to try for maternity allowance.
