How long for chicken?

I cooked chicken in the slow cooker late Friday night. It cooled throughout the night.

I let it cool down until Saturday linch and then put it in the fridge. It's been in there since then.

Will it be okay to eat it on Monday night? Or a bit risky?

That's true @Wolfiefan but I also do crazy things like eat food past it's use by date and I've obviously never died from that either.

All I'm saying is that we all need to use a little common sense. And understanding the science behind food and cooking can help us make informed choices.

It's like people saying rice should never be reheated and cooked. Well I've eaten this my whole life too (I'm Chinese), fried rice should never be made with fresh rice because it's too sticky. Chinese people aren't all getting sick from one of their staple meals, so what's the fuss about? scientists have said bacteria multiplies - yes it does, but is it harmful? Clearly not.

Appreciate this is all very unhelpful for the OP who still hasn't got a proper answer. Sorry OP. If it helps, I never enjoy food I have doubts about so if you're unsure then just bin it.

but it can be, so why risk it? It's like the old, 'my neighbor smoked til he was 99, so it must be ok', the scientific evidence is there, so why ignore it?

@ALargeGinPlease I see what you're trying to do but that's a very unfair and frankly bordering on ridiculous comparison.

You had to cool food before refrigeration with older fridges because they weren't very efficient and putting hot food in would warm it up for quite a while. But modern fridges are much more efficient and advice is that you can put hot food in straight away

@ilovewinterpansies quote taken from the .gov website linked earlier
* Myth #1:* Food poisoning isn’t that big of a deal. I just have to tough it out for a day or two and then it’s over.
Fact: Many people don’t know it, but some foodborne illnesses can actually lead to long-term health conditions, and 3,000 Americans a year die from foodborne illness*
Not sure why my previous post is bordering on ridiculous?

Some bacteria can’t be killed by reheating.

Reheating rice is safe. If done with caution.
You really don’t understand food safety. It’s not as simple as bacteria isn’t harmful. Confused
