Has anyone else bought the EcoEgg?

I've just got one. My friend bought one last week and has not stopped going on about how great it is. I've got the blue one and I'm not convinced. I've done a few loads of washing today but, while my clothes seem to be clean, they don't smell as nice and feel different. Maybe I just need to get used to it? Has anyone else tried it? What's your opinion?

We have one, works fine on clothes that just need dressing up. Anything with stains (ie children’s clothes) or sweaty (gym kit), it’s rubbish. So we use it but not a replacement for good old bio powder when needed

*freshing up not dressing up

I bought one, too and was disappointed. In fact, I threw it away

DH plays a very messy sport so already decided I definitely won't use it on his kit.
Do you use it on jeans? Does it work on them?

I tried one and wasn't keen as didnt feel like things were properly clean so ecoegg told me to use two which I did for 6 months.

I started to notice a weird smell, almost like damp, even though the were dried outdoors like it was before and I bought DS new polo shirts only to notice how grey his last ones were!

I gave up after that as I just didn't get on with them.

I've got a blue eco egg. Had it for two years and only use on colour wash. I'm amazed every time I use it. It gets my husband's work clothes clean.
You're right about the fragrance, or basically no smell at all. But you can use fabric conditioner or a drop of Zoflora.
I still use Formil (bio from Lidl) for my whites as I like optical brighteners.

I'm really glad I've got the eco egg though.

Zoflora in the washing machine?? I thought about buying some of those smell booster things but I always fine that yes they work, they are also expensive for what they are. I might take a trick out of my grandma's book and hang lavender in the wardrobe and keep bars of soap in my drawers lol

My DH washed his very muddy jeans the other day, came out spotless. We live in a very hard water area by the way, so I am constantly amazed by it.

toldmywrath · 02/03/2019 20:05

I put a drop of Zoflora in the fab conditioner drawer if we've been ill or for extra hygiene. I don't generally use fabric conditioner much at all.

toldmywrath · 02/03/2019 20:07

On and I have soaps in my socks drawer, plus a couple of Lush bath bombs unwrapped. I wouldn't use in the bath, too highly scented.

I got one and was very disappointed, I only used it a few times. My clothes looked clean after using it (but they are not particularly dirty or stained to begin with and I suspect they would look clean with just a water wash), however the cotton fresh fragrance wore off after 2 or 3 washes and then my clothes started to have a musty, odd smell that was noticeable when they were dry.
My machine is kept very clean with regular hot washes and soda crystals so it wasn't my machine at fault, and normally I don't use very highly perfumed detergents or any fabric conditioner, so it's not like I'm used to my clothes smelling overly fragranced, they just didn't smell clean or freshly washed.

We use it for everything. We haven’t encountered the issues of pp and use it to wash everything including sports gear and reusable nappies. We do put it on an anti-stain wash due to the nappies which might be why.
Generally very happy with it. During the dead of winter some of the inners for the nappies and towels came out rather hard but that actually passed pretty quickly.

My partner was talking about getting one for the household. Not sure I'll bother now. Weve been using Bio Data washing powder for a while and have been really happy with it. Recently tried Splosh, and although it's great, I won't be in a rush to get more washing powder as it works out far more expensive (I have a toddler and another baby on the way so lots of washing going on!).

Apparently, vinegar with a few drops of essential oil is great for laundry so going to try that soon.

Biancadelrioisback · 03/03/2019 15:09

I'm satisfied that things are clean. I've been back to inspect them today but they don't smell nice. They don't smell bad, but not nice. I might look into ways to get them smelling better and persevere with the egg
