Just got the email and they will no longer be supplying Waitrose goods but M and S instead.

Discuss.

Annoyed as I love the Waitrose essentials ranges but I suppose I will just shift to direct.

I'm not remotely bothered about m&s food. Too expensive to me.

I've used ocado for a decade so it's one long term customer they've lost.

I’ll probably stick with them but I’m disappointed. Waitrose meat and fish is good quality at a reasonable price (not cheap, but not extortionate) and in portions that work well for my family. M&S doesn’t hit the spot for me. Most irritating is the fact that I pass an M&S food shop on my way home from work, so when I do want something from them it’s easy for me to pick it up. My local Waitrose is in a really inconvenient location.

Al2O3 · 02/03/2019 13:56

I hope the board of M&S are getting proper legal advice and we are not going to see them coming on MN for advice when it all goes tits up.

Thesearmsofmine · 02/03/2019 13:58

It’s a shame, Waitrose don’t deliver in my area but Ocado do. I do like M&S but their range isn’t as wide as Waitrose.

Bittermints · 02/03/2019 14:04

I'll stick with them and see how it goes. I buy more Ocado own brand stuff than Waitrose as it's usually marginally cheaper and the quality is still fine. They'll have brands although I buy very few of those. Might see if I can get Morrison's as that's Ocado delivery standards but presumably cheaper. M&S food is of little interest to me. Too much packaging, too expensive, we eat few ready meals. Hmm

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 02/03/2019 16:17

I think I would prefer them to stay with Waitrose.

Bittermints · 02/03/2019 17:51

It was always on the cards that they would part company with Waitrose, though, ever since Waitrose set up their website. From my limited experience with Waitrose, oddly I'd say they've got less stuff on there from their own ranges than Ocado has. I use it sometimes because they send me generous money off tokens. More substitutions than Ocado, though, as others have said, and the website is a bit less slick.

CinammonPorridge · 02/03/2019 17:54

I wouldn't really be interested in M&S good shopping.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/03/2019 18:57

I shop on Waitrose online and it’s free delivery.

We nipped I to marks for tomatoes, £2.49 for 6. Drove to the co op instead.

DaffydownClock · 02/03/2019 19:02

I'm not impressed; I don't particularly like M&S food, so will probably swop to Morrisons. Very disappointed.

DaffydownClock · 02/03/2019 19:04

And I can't imagine they'll continue price-matching to Tesco's either!

JassyRadlett · 02/03/2019 19:10

Another unimpressed regular customer. Every time I’ve used Waitrose delivery there have been multiple substitutions and they are hit and miss on quality (very memorable was getting 12 pints of milk that expired that day delivered at 8pm at night).

I very rarely get Ocado substitutions, because it’s warehouse rather than shop based.

Not a fan of M&S for groceries.

We buy a lot of Waitrose Essentials products like breakfast cereals because the sugar content is much lower than the brands. Will wait and see next year, but it’s annoying. Maybe Waitrose will pull their socks up to win back customers - I saw something about them investing more in warehouse technology, which they sorely need.

SquirmOfEels · 02/03/2019 19:19

There was quite a long thread during the week.

I shall be trying out Waitrose Direct. As I'm in London, and near several large stores, I'm hoping they'll be quite good.

(And I agree with PrettySister - just saying 'discuss' comes across as hideously bossy)
