I use Sainsbury but am spending a fortune, for me and 2 preschoolers.

They are very reliable though, mostly in stock and substitutions are good.

We have asda, Tesco and Morrisons locally.

Asda have always been great for me.

Reasonably priced, lots of offers, reliable...

Wenttoseainasieve · 02/03/2019 04:39

Morrison's are by far the best IMO. Comparable in price to Asda, but far more reliable/better customer service. Missing items and substitutions are a rarity with them even at Christmas, I think because their orders are fulfilled in huge warehouses rather than picked out in the local store, they have a better idea of availability. They are more often early than late with the delivery as well, they call to check it's ok to deliver before the slot time.

IShitGlitter · 02/03/2019 04:43

asda are shite i always have loads of subs ive found morrisons and ocado to be good but again pricey so i have just started with tescos so far theve been great!

snozzlemaid · 02/03/2019 04:54

I've used Tesco for years. I don't have any problems with them at all.

BridgeFarmKefir · 02/03/2019 06:02

Another vote for Morrisons here. They basically white label the Ocado platform (stuff even comes in Ocado bags) so the service is great but the produce is way cheaper.

SamanthaH92 · 02/03/2019 06:21

Don’t online food shop atm but have been looking in to Tesco and they seem the better option. I shop at Morrison’s mostly and will spend £55 if not more but I took a trip to Tesco and got 4 bags of shopping for £25! Asda are rubbish have used them in the past they either don’t have the item or it’s swapped for something else.

KinkyHair · 02/03/2019 06:23

I use Tesco and never had a problem. Asda are the worst.

fleshmarketclose · 02/03/2019 06:29

Round here Morrisons are best by a country mile tbh, rarely have a substitution or a missing item and they refund the bags you return and drivers are happy to check all fresh items. Have tried Tesco, poor quality and Sainsburys expensive and items missing but haven't tried Asda because I have never heard anyone recommend it.

rededucator · 02/03/2019 06:31

I've wondered about online shopping but have heard use by dates can be poor. If I place an order to be delivered on a Monday, how would I know the chicken I have planned to eat on Friday will have a long enough date? Thanks

Cobmum · 02/03/2019 06:34

I’ve used Tesco for about 5/6 years and although ropey at the start are fab now. The app is easy to use too.

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/03/2019 06:39

Is Morrisons expensive? I was really thinking about Morrisons or asda. Will not bother with asda now I don't think and trial Morrisons and tesco. Thanks

I fell out with ASDA before they delivered when I was told to fuck off by a member of staff.

Morrisons are OK but they do a weird thing with payment so you think you have paid but they don't take the money until two days later. They also deliver from a wherehouse not the store so some things cooked in store are never available eg doughnuts.

Tesco I'm now on first name terms with the guys at the store who send out the vans. I missed a call and a payment had not gone through on a card, so when I picked up the call it was too late, they had already passed me so set up for delivery the following day. Then they phoned me back, the delivery driver had finished the 'round' but was heading back to mine if I wanted delivery in the next 1/2 hour.

When we had snow and my carer couldn't get to me the delivery drivers brought things through to the kitchen and offered to fill the cupboards and fridge for me - I don't think they offer that to everyone.

I did email the manager and say how much I appreciate it, he phoned me back to thank me because they normally only receive complaints.

I realise this might be my local store going above and beyond, they also put up with my cat trying to get into their van.

Also as I'm not working at the moment I book their '4 hour slot', you choose the slot and they send you a text on the day with a 1 hour slot within the 4 hour one, I can get deliveries for £1.

There is the odd substitution wtf - I ordered spring roll wrappers and got 2Kg of prawns.

I also use 'mysupermarket.com' to get the best prices.

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 02/03/2019 07:12

Tesco is good, I use some of my club card points to get money off my delivery saver, I get the cheaper Tues-Thurs slots.

Asda charged be twice as much for my shopping once and it took about a month of phone calls and going to my local store to get my money back

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 02/03/2019 07:14

And as a previous poster said the flexi slots for £1 are good value if you don’t want a delivery saver, I used to have those

hidinginthenightgarden · 02/03/2019 07:20

I use sainsburys and get a voucher for £18 off when you sepnd £60. I just change my email address and do it every week. I rarely spend more that £45 that way.

Morrisons I find pretty expensive. Haven't tried the others.

icklekid · 02/03/2019 07:21

I used Morrisons for years and always really impressed. They are definitely cheaper than ocado which I price checked by filling 2 baskets with same things once. We now go to Aldi and obviously it was more expensive!

user1493413286 · 02/03/2019 07:26

I use Asda, I recently did the same shop with Morrison’s and it was more expensive so I’m sticking with Asda. I like that their substitutions are usually a more expensive brand so I don’t tend to mind.

Isth · 02/03/2019 07:28

I came on to say Asda would be my recommendation, but it appears I’m in the minority! I’ve always found them to be great, reasonably priced, rarely any subs, always on time, helpful staff and never a problem getting a delivery slot.

Happygolucky009 · 02/03/2019 07:33

No Sainsbury's locally, but nipped in as I was passing a large store having been out for the day. I knew Sainsbury's were a bit pricier than my normal supermarket ( generally use either morrison s or aldi). I was shocked at the difference!!!!! Chicken things about £2 in Aldi a bit more in morrison s were £6.50 in Sainsbury's Angry

Theweasleytwins · 02/03/2019 07:45

I use ocado, love their own brand nappies and its all quite reasonably priced, more so than sainsburys for what i buy

LoniceraJaponica · 02/03/2019 07:55

When I started online shopping 17 years ago the only supermarket that delivered in our area was Tesco. They have always been reliable and helpful, and I can't recommend them highly enough. I have tried Ocado and Sainsbury's, but have no reason to stop using Tesco.

I think it also depends on how good the pickers are at the local depot.

anniehm · 02/03/2019 08:01

Much the same - I prefer Tesco's app but like Morrison's food however if they give me money off I use Ocado. No loyalty here!

GertrudeCB · 02/03/2019 08:07

Another vote for Morrisons.
Fantastic service and fresh meat / fruit/ veg always top notch.

greendale17 · 02/03/2019 08:15

Ocado by far, great customer service and I have never had any substitutions

frogbull · 02/03/2019 08:21

I use Tesco. They're pretty reliable. There's the occasional problem but nothing too awful. I tried Asda and they were OK, but more substitutions and things not available than Tesco. I tried Sainsbury's a few times, and it was an absolute mess each time. They forgot whole bags of shopping and left them on the van, for a few weeks on the trot.
