Is my son showing signs of autism any advice or help

Hi there

My son is a wonderful boy, he turned 3 in January and recently I've been having some concerns that he may be on the spectrum. I've googled signs probably not the best idea but i wanted to see if his behaviour was linked to autism. My son screams at every loud noise there is, could be anything from a fire alarm to a motorbike riding past, when we go to a park he doesn't interact with other children much and impart from slides its very hard to get him focused on a particular object or thing, however, if it's something that he likes and enjoys he will be repetitive all the rest of the time he just wanders in his own little world, he will only eat certain foods and won't touch hardly anything that isn't of a dry texture impart from yoghurt, he does speak and is quite good with words however getting him to have a conversation with you is very yes and no question based, when it comes to hair brushing, toenail clipping he won't let me touch him but he will give you cuddles and kisses and likes to sit with you for a small period of time.

Am i just being a paranoid parent thinking there might be something there when actually there's not or should I take him to the doctors and start the ball rolling for a referral. Please any advice would help or if im completely wrong about it being linked to autism, what could it be? If anything.

It's impossible to say based just on your description, and at three it's hard to tell what us just toddler behaviour but all the things you mention sound just like my ds with asd. Talk to your HV if concerned they will refer you to a paediatrician

Nobody here can diagnose your DS, but mine displayed all those traits and more. I would definitely get it looked into. Keep an ongoing list of how he is on the triad of impairments / sensory aspects including food to arm yourself with if you are referred. Good luck Flowers
