...will I still be able to access the things I've recorded on my sky q box? Can't really afford the price increase but have loads recorded. Sad

Thanks

They will ask you to send back your equipment too of pay a fine. :(

Binglebong · 01/03/2019 20:30

Damn. Can you use the sky q while I wait for broadband connection (the recorded bits)? Also koving house in the middle of this!

WiltedDaffs · 01/03/2019 20:31

I think you can keep your equipment if you change to Freesat. You pay them pay £25 for the viewing card to go in the box and no monthly bills after that. www.sky.com/shop/freesat/home/

Binglebong · 01/03/2019 21:18

This is all such a pain. Only expecting to be in the house six months so it will make contracts really difficult.

dontpointatme · 01/03/2019 21:38

I'm pretty sure when I changed from sky+ to sky q there was something in the contract about the q equipment only being in loan and still belonging to sky so it has to be returned if you finish your contract? Worth checking into...

CluedoAddict · 01/03/2019 21:56

Sky q boxes are only loaned so you will have to return it. Sky plus you owned the equipment.

Lazypuppy · 01/03/2019 22:29

Why don't you just remove one element of your package (movies/kids/sports etc) to make it affordable.

Also, are you currently on a contract or month to month? Always go onto a contract as theres always at least 50% off codes floating about, i don't know anyone who pays full price for Sky

Binglebong · 02/03/2019 00:49

We're on the bare minimum lazy - just TV and broadband. No extras at all. And we are on contract - and didn't pay full price!

I read yesterday that you can cancel without Early Termination Charges on Broadband within 30 days of receiving notice of the price increase as per Ofcom regulations. If it’s a package with the tv you may be able to use this info to get out of both.

thefirst48 · 02/03/2019 01:02

My sky's only gone up £3 a month how much has yours gone up?

Lazypuppy · 02/03/2019 10:54

So basic TV and broadband on a contract must be about £20-£25 a month?

Mine is only going up by £3 a month, how big an increase are you getting?!

JSSB · 02/03/2019 10:57

Have you called them to ask what you can do? We've always found we've been able to negotiate some kind of deal with them.

ballsdeep · 02/03/2019 10:59

I didn't have to send anything back. They kept sending me deals though so we hung out and got it for quarter of the price we were paying

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/03/2019 10:59

Doesn't help with your sky q, but we stayed somewhere for 3-4 months between selling and buying a property and used now tv - they offer contract free broadband and tv. It was significantly cheaper than sky (we were only on the basics with sky too). Our contract had finished though.

jocktamsonsbairn · 02/03/2019 22:18

With now tv can you record programmes?

Billoddiesbeard · 03/03/2019 17:06

Have just cancelled the whole of our sky tv package. We have kept calls and Internet and have saved ourselves over £100 per month 😱
The problem with sky is the price increases might only be £3 or 4 each time but these mount up over time.
Our IP TV subscription costs £70 per year 😄
