An important reminder about school admissions..

...even if you don’t get the school you want accept the one you get then appeal. If you reject the place you’ve been offered, the LEA can then put you at the very bottom of the list and give you any place in any of their schools. Which might be the worst school in the LEA, one that’s completely inaccessible to you. Accept-then appeal.

Round here, you don’t accept your school place, it is automatically accepted on offer!

Well timed, Bertrand.

So I called the admissions people. My daughter is in 6th form which doesn’t count !
The primary school are going to supply supporting evidence of everything they have done to support my son
Thanks for the advice tho. I would have declined the offer but I won’t now if it’s a silly idea

We don't have that option in my LEA. You either accept the offered place or ask to go on the waiting list/appeal. The LEA website states that your original place will be held for you if you go on the waiting list at another school.

Re: people putting the same school several times or only putting one on their list of preferences, I was reminded today that our LEA's online application doesn't allow this, because it will reject your form unless you fill in all places with different schools.
Do all counties not do this then?

I know we officially find out primary school places on 16th April but I seem to remember being able to check if a school was oversubscribed before the official date.

Can anyone confirm when that information is published?

Does anyone know who oversees a admissions team of a faith school that has academy conversion status. Iam new to this so any help would be great.

Chez If you post a new thread on the Secondary board, with the word 'admissions' or 'appeal' in the title I'm sure the relevant knowledgeable people will answer.
