Drawn out toddler cold?

He’s not my first dc but I’m questioning myself.

He’s been not well for around 12 days now, but has not had a noticeable temperature. For the first week he was very snotty, spots appearing then disappearing the next day (each day), very unsettled especially during the night & not much appetite.

Since then he’s better during the night but has had a chesty cough for the last week, still snotty, some of the spots have stayed there but havent blistered, just fade gradually. Been giving calpol & calprofen a couple of times a day when he seems in pain.

Seemingly all symptoms of a cold without the temperature. I haven’t taken to dr as seems like something viral, and not worrying with no temperature - but doubting myself incase it’s something more.

It just seems to have gone on for so long with him not improving. If it was something more he’d have a temperature wouldn’t he? He’s happy playing inbetween the crying.

So last night the temp started (after 2 weeks Hmm ) and this morning an ambulance was called for him as he was burning hot, floppy, non blanching rash etc.

Discharged and told it’s ear/throat infection - so I feel awful for not getting him seen.

Don't feel awful it's so hard to know what to do for best when they are so young. We've had a couple of hospital admissions with ds who picked up something viral and then something bacterial on top. At this time of year it's inevitable while they are building an immune system.

Hope he feels better soon.

GS had this, up and down. Was only when an older family member got tonsillitis did we realise what it was. It is hard when they cannot tell you what is wrong.
