Toddler constant colds

kaytee87 · 28/02/2019 08:59

My 2.5yo gets a new cold every couple of weeks throughout the winter (from November - March in Scotland Grin)
I know it's probably normal but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to boost his immunity?
He eats lots of fruit and some veg. I give him vitamin d drops throughout the winter but haven't found a multivitamin he'll take yet. He won't eat the gummies, I bought a liquid one that he promptly spat out (I tasted it and it was rank tbf).
Any other suggestions and when does it start getting better? I suppose I'm lucky that it's just colds (although he always gets a runny tummy with them too which is not helping potty training).

Maybe a strange question, but does your child breath with his mouth open? If so, that can cause more colds than usual. If this is the case, go and see a GP so they can have a look at his nose and ears.

Other than that, no advice I'm afraid.

When he's in the middle of a cold he does as he's blocked up, he doesn't when he's not blocked up though.
We don't often go to the GP but he has had his nose and ears looked in before and GP didn't mention anything.
He seems to have passed his current cold onto me too Sad

That's good. I think some kids are just more susceptible, sorry...

Does he go to nursery? If so, not a lot you can do unfortunately.

Otherwise, make sure you frequently wash his hands, or use antibac hand wipes, particularly after going to the shops etc. There's also a kind of gel stuff you can buy in Boots that you put under the nose, I think it acts as a barrier to germs - not sure if it's any good though.

He goes to nursery one day a week but is out at a lot of toddler groups etc. The other days.
I will have a look at that gel stuff thanks.
I'm looking forward to the spring/summer!!
