Tips on getting baby to move?

jcmayj · 27/02/2019 20:03

I have established that DS' foot/leg must be positioned near my rib because it's very hard in that area and the pain is horrible.

Does anyone have any tips on encouraging baby to move? I've tried walking about and stretching but the pain is still there, it's actually agony Sad

TIA

Try standing facing a wall with your feet positioned hip distance apart but back from the wall so you're leaning into it. Put your palms on the wall above your head, shoulder width apart and inch them up as far as they can go.

Are you sure it's a foot though? My ribs were agony when pregnant and it was my intercostal muscles stretching as I'm short bodied and ds was long / big.

jcmayj · 27/02/2019 20:14

@kaytee87 I will try this.

I think it's his foot but I don't know, it's incredibly hard when I press down on that area. It's so painful SadSad

I am very short also, 5 1

Get on all fours then down onto elbows with bum up. Similar to scrubbing the bath. I persuaded one of mine to turn a bit doing this.

jcmayj · 28/02/2019 01:01

@FoxtrotSkarloey I'm 30 weeks. The pain has gotten worse in the last hour and baby is very active in there Sad I can't even touch the area it's so tender and painful

Cold iced water? Ice cream?

jcmayj · 28/02/2019 01:14

@YouBumder I don't have any ice or ice cream to try that

I am also very short(5ft nothing!)and for the end of my pregnancy I felt like this, baby was very active and I felt so uncomfortable! I found getting on all fours helped. If it gets anyworse I would speak to your midwife!x

jcmayj · 28/02/2019 01:33

@Wingingeverything baby just had a period of moving a lot and the movements seemed different than usual, more aggressive I think is the right word.

I really don't know if I should ring the maternity unit, movement has calmed down now but I still have the rib pain

Always ring if you're concerned movement is unusual OP, every time. Probably nothing but chat and see.

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 28/02/2019 01:40

Ring them and discuss it, will help you and baby relax

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 28/02/2019 01:41

The more stressed you get the more time it effects the baby

jcmayj · 28/02/2019 01:41

Thank you all, I'm going to ring them. I'm really panicking and just feel as though something isn't right

The triage number is busy and I can't get through Sad

Update: just got back from maternity triage.

They struggled to find baby's heartbeat for a while and I was put on the monitor until they were happy with it.

I have been sent home and will be waiting on a call to have a growth scan, until then I am to go back to visit for daily monitoring.

I've had blood tests also to check for any infections as my own heart rate was extremely high and I am already high risk as I have GD.

The rib pain is musculoskeletal and it does seem as though baby's foot was wedged somewhere there.

I'm glad I went in to get checked Thanks
