Inappropriate at work

I think a colleague at work fancies me. He is about 15 years older than me, I'm 99% sure he is married - unsure if he has children. I don't want to post too many details but he does a different job to me but is considerably senior to me.
I barely know him but he makes every excuse to talk to me.
He has messaged me on social media.
He asked me for my phone number in front of a group of people when I first met him, I massively panicked and gave it to him as I didn't want to embarrass him but I know this was stupid and I very strongly regret it so please don't be hard on me for it!
He has text me multiple times. I haven't replied to any of the messages. I have blocked him on all forms of communication now.
Two people at work have commented that they think he fancies me.
I want him to stop speaking to me.
I don't know what to do.

Just ignore him and block him on all social media. If he talks to you, be polite but distant. You’re always in a rush, can’t stay and chat.

Report to hr this is harassment. Don't delete messages and don't respond. If he asks at work, just say you were busy with your boyfriend.

He should have got the message that you don't want any form of contact with him by now. If it was me I probably would have replied to one of his messages saying I'm not interested, busy with boyfriend or whatever. Then if he didn't back off I would report to HR. As you haven't told him to back off he could say he didn't realise he was bothering you as you hadn't said anything to indicate that which is why I would personally respond making it clear first.

He either doesn't get social norms or he's a bit of a creep. Both are a nightmare to deal with. I hope you get it sorted.

Thanks. I've been reluctant to reply to any messages or say to him "Im not interested" because he's clearly married, facebook profile picture is his wedding and I thought he might turn it on me saying he was just being friendly so I just blocked him on every form of communication hoping that would be enough for him to get the message. I havent seen or heard from him in a week now so fingers crossed. Every time he talks to me in person I am as short as I can be without being obviously rude as I am in a difficult position in the workplace when he is a senior.

He just strikes me as creepy really!! And wouldnt you at least try to hide that you're married?!

You sound quite level headed. He sounds like a creep and a sleaze. His poor wife!!

Carry on as you are. You are giving him nothing. Hopefully he’ll give up.
