Sell me your car!

Binglebong · 25/02/2019 22:11

I am looking for a small 5 door car at a max of £2000. And I am going spare! Would you recommend your car? Obviously I'm not asking you to find me one, you dont know my area, but would you scream "run away" from yours or "buy buy buy"?

Doesn't have to be really modern (central locking and electric windows please!), but reliable is a must.

Thank you!

I love mine. It’s a 7yo Ford Fiesta. Currently have a hire car as someone drove into the back of mine. I have a Suzuki as a hire and not a fan!

FlibbertyGiblets · 25/02/2019 22:17

Mondeo. So middle of the road and staid but cavernous boot, reliable and easy/cheap to fix. (A bit big for you though?)

Binglebong · 25/02/2019 22:37

Thank you both. I shall check them out. And not the Suzuki!

I've got a Kia , after a series of 'better' car brands I find this is an amazingly reliable basic little car , very good value for the money

StillMedusa · 25/02/2019 22:58

My Nissan Micra was one of the best I've had .. I only traded it in when I had an itch for a different style. It was very economical, surprisingly roomy and very nice to drive and park .

I would recommend a Clio. Very long lasting (mine's nearly 20 snd still going strong).

ginghambox · 26/02/2019 00:10

Do not buy a old AUDI or BMW.

IncrediblySadToo · 26/02/2019 00:15

Ford Focus - can’t go wrong. I had to replace my 20 yo one last year (I’d had it 9 of those years). I fancied a change. I test drove all sorts and had very various rentals. I really fancied something a bit different...I went to loads of dealers and wore Autotrader out.

...I bought a Ford Focus in a different colour 🤣

If you want something smaller the Fiestas are great.

I have a few hot wheels ones or an Oyster card leaves the thread

Fords are super reliable and they age well.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 26/02/2019 08:28

Kia is a very good brand these days. As is Skoda. Kia Picanto or Rio. Seven year warranty.

ineedaknittedhat · 26/02/2019 10:52

I have a Suzuki Splash which I would recommend.

We've got a 9yo Polo as a second car. It's a 1.4 diesel with 102k on the clock. It's never given us a minutes trouble. It's lovely to drive, easy to park and incredibly economical.

DS2 has the same car but petrol, with 60k on the clock. He lives in a city so it's ideal for that'.

Binglebong · 26/02/2019 19:04

Oooh that's a fab list! You are all stars. Thank you. Flowers

I have a Fiat Panda - I think it is very good.

Singlenotsingle · 26/02/2019 20:35

Citroen C3 Picasso.
Five seats, big boot. Plenty of room for 2 dc with their booster seats and several bags of shopping. Very reliable

ThatLibraryMiss · 26/02/2019 21:08

My late-2007 Skoda Fabia sails through its MOTs and has needed very little in the way of work - just stuff you'd expect, like brakes and tyres. It's very, very similar to both the Audi A1 and the VW Golf, but parts are cheaper. I'd have another Skoda.

Binglebong · 03/03/2019 22:27

Thankbyou all som much for your help. I've ended up with an elderly VW Polo which I think will do me nicely.

Thanks again!
