I did mine about 4 years ago. I am a hoarder by nature (maybe because I grew up in a minimalist house?!). It was really hard to start with - I charitied 5 bin bags of clothes, 2 bin bags of accessories first time! You’ll find day to day things are better because you find things more easily, you can pick your clothes more easily because there’s less choice!

It does take time and you have to keep applying the principles. Tell you when it really makes a difference? When you move house! We moved 18 months ago and DH commented how much easier it was because we have less stuff now. Also top tip - bulk buy boxes off Amazon or eBay so they’re the same size and you can stack them. Made moving easier.

We are getting posted at the end of the year, across country, so if we keep it streamlined, hopefully it will be a lot easier

Oh don’t the whole house will be very overwhelming.

I did a few categories ‘properly’ and then applied a more light touch to the rest.

I did the whole house, because people are going to be coming through for viewings and poking in closets, opening the basement, etc
I have a terrible mound of bags outside for garbage collection tomorrow
Also, my poor car is packed to the brim now, with all the donation bags to be dropped off tomorrow as well.
