Sore joints suddenly

BedraggledBlitz · 23/02/2019 17:16

When I woke yesterday both wrists were really sore. I'm finding it hard to twist wrist and grip.

Today my neck and ankles are also sore.

I've done nothing strenuous. Cant explain it at all.

I'm 42 and general good health, except had bug couple of weeks ago with achy joints, feel tired a lot but single mum to 4yo so goes with territory.

Anyone had this? Could it be menopause?

Hi, I'm just a nurse, not an expert in anything. But a sudden onset of changes in normal condition are worth paying attention to. If you otherwise feel well I'd just keep an eye on it. If it continues or worsens seek advice (GP or other).

thecatneuterer · 23/02/2019 17:49

Do you have a rash? I had all that suddenly, plus a rash. It was rheumatic fever. I don't know if there's always a rash. I think it needs checking out.

rockingthelook · 23/02/2019 17:51

This happened to me, think it was menopause related, used to get sore wrists and arms just carrying my usual handbag, even went to the gp....then it just went as quickly as it started, no problems since

Could be parvovirus? Has your 4 year old had anything that resembles slapped cheek rash recently?

thinkingcapon · 23/02/2019 17:56

As previous poster suggested I think it's slapcheek.....my son has it in its usual form then I had your symptoms......couldn't do stairs !

Mrscaindingle · 23/02/2019 18:02

I have exactly these symptoms and it is due to the menopause... however 42 is young for that. See your GP if it doesn't go in a few days.

BedraggledBlitz · 23/02/2019 18:05

My face has been pink a couple of times but I put it down to change in weather. DS has been ok though.

Hmmm

In an adult slapcheek doesn't show in red cheeks

alwayslearning789 · 23/02/2019 18:16

Vitamin D deficiency? Worth having it checked out with the doctor.

BedraggledBlitz · 23/02/2019 18:22

Thanks all, will see how things are on Monday and perhaps see doctor

We think we had adult slapped cheek a couple of years ago - dd2 has fairly text book symptoms (the rash was a sight to behold) then a few days later both dh and I felt really dreadful - achy, tired just washed out. V v unlike him (if not hugely unusual for me).

I had googled slapped cheek for dd then saw the adult symptoms and we both fit them to a t. We were both popping neurofen like mad thinking we'd hurt stuff and it's only when we compared symptoms we realised maybe it was a 'thing' not just general knackeredness.

It passed quick enough but was oddly non specifically shit at the time.

Hope you feel better soon!

Missmarplesknitting · 23/02/2019 20:24

My joints felt like this with vitamin D deficiency. Bone aching.

fatpatsthong · 23/02/2019 20:29

Ohhh and also maybe thyroid? I am finding lots of joint pain atm probably down to that

justforareply · 23/02/2019 20:42

I used to get sudden onset joint pains before tonsillitis (tonsils out mid twenties)
Had some shooting pains earlier this week in feet and shoulders prior to a cold appearing midweek
So poss viral?

BedraggledBlitz · 24/02/2019 22:29

@thecatneuterer I'm still aching, the joint pain seems to move around my body so today ankles were bad. I'm worried about rheumatic fever. My grandad had it, not sure if that makes me likely to get it.

Wanted to ask you if your joints looked visibly swollen when you had it? Mine dont. Thanks!

I tried to make doctor appointment via their automated telephone thing but nothing till 22 March. Will phone tomorrow in case I can get earlier.

My joint pains also down to vitamin d deficiency.

BedraggledBlitz · 24/02/2019 22:33

Not sure whether vitamin d is the problem, I'm a big egg eater (eggs are medium but I have lots), plus get vitamin bread - I feel like I should be getting enough vitamins.

I think my joints did look a bit swollen, but it was around 25 years ago so my memory isn't that reliable.
