Inventive ways to keep a baby car seat moving indoors?

I tried a Rockit and it worked amazingly but the batteries would only last a few hours which mean either constantly recharging them or buying more.

He's not keen on swing chairs. He loves his car seat when we take him out and when we get home he stays asleep. If I keep rocking it.

Is there something we can fashion at home to keep it rocking so I can wee/eat/wash/cry into my corn flakes?

If you're getting poor battery life, their website says:

How can I get the best battery life from the Rockit?

  1. Use good quality Alkaline batteries. Some cheap batteries are only suitable for low-drain items such as remote controls or clocks. Good quality Alkaline batteries should last much longer.

  2. You can use re-chargeable batteries. NiMH rechargeable batteries can last even longer than Alkaline and only cost pennies per charge.

  3. Mount the Rockit as close to vertical as possible (pointing up with the button on top). Battery life will be reduced if used flat.

  4. Try slower speeds, using the dial on the bottom. Sometimes the best rock can be achieved at a slower speed, it does not always need to be fast!

Tie a string to the handle and keep pulling it as you sit on the sofa with the baby in front of you in the car seat.

TBH I would just change the Rockit batteries if it works for you.

I did change the Rockit batteries. 836290 times it was infuriating.

I can attach things and pull it but that defeats what I'm trying to do. Which is invent something to rock it so I can get things done around the house.

I tried tying the car seat to the moving swing chair but of course that didn't work

Have you got it on the seat in the best position for battery life?

I don’t mean to sound judgmental but you’re not supposed to keep them in car seats for ages. I would take him out when you get home. We kept the car seat fixed in the car all the time. Hope you manage to find a different solution.

I'm sure he can cope with an hour every now and then. You can get a lot done in an hour.

He isn't in it all day but I can see how you read that in my OP which didn't say anything of the sort.
