Dd9 was sick a few times on Monday
I put it down to a dodgy ice cream sundae the day before. Just vomiting. And generally feeling awful. No other symptoms. She was fine from tuesday until tonight after her dinner. Ive never seen this before. Shes very rarely poorly and shes been fine for days and now she's being sick again. Also, earlier during dinner I noticed her eyes not moving together. She had squint surgery last year to straighten her eyes so it was quite apparent. I haven't seen her eyes do this since before her surgery. I don't know if this is a coincidence or if the two things are related. I really don't know. Shes been absolutely fine all week until tonight. Isn't complaining of a headache or anything.

DS was ill Thurs-sat. Fine sunday, monday but totally floored tuesday and not great wednesday. Today he turned down chocolate so obviously still not great.
Bizzarre!!

How's her vision?

Can she see ok?

drspouse · 22/02/2019 21:30

I've had viruses go away - seemingly - and come back. So it could be the same bug. I'd ring 111.

I’d take her to Gp and optician just to be safe.

Does she have a headache?
Get her to squeeze your hands at the same time, does she have equal grip and strength in both hands?
How old is she?

Weenurse · 22/02/2019 21:33

Sorry, I see she is 9, could be migraine, could be viral. Get medical advice

Cucumbersalad · 22/02/2019 21:33

Oh your poor DD. No real advice but we have had a virus going on in our house on and off for the past two weeks with long gaps in between sickness episodes. It sounds quite like your DD's illness. Regarding her eyes, could it be down to tiredness? I've noticed this myself when exhausted.

curiousgeorgie247 · 22/02/2019 21:38

Grips both fingers fine. No headache or blurred vision. She can see fine. Her eyes are normal again now.

I havent seen any abnormal eye movements since dinner time. It was very strange. Maybe it was because she was run down or trying to focus as it was going dark at the time.
Hopefully, thats just a coincidence and it's the bug from the beginning of the week rearing its ugly head again.
I've never known that to happen before and nobody else in the house is ill.

Hiya my daughter also had surgery to straighten her eyes. Doctors do say if the children are run down, ill or tired that it can appear again temporarily. Was it as bad as before her surgery or just a little squint?

curiousgeorgie247 · 22/02/2019 22:36

Her squint was really bad before the surgery. Both eyes, side to side and up and down gaze were affected.

I wasn't told this could happen. That is reassuring.

Sorry forgot to say. It was nowhere near as bad as before. But still quite noticeable.

It sounds very similar to my daughter.... Hers alternated between being straight and turning out, but were never turned out at the same time.....the up and down issues started later. My daughter had the op 5 years ago when she was 2 and a half and apart from a few rare occasions where they are a teeny tiny bit off, they have been fine. Did the doctors over correct your daughters eyes in the operation?

iamconfused18 · 23/02/2019 08:42

I had a squint corrected when I was a child and my bad eye still goes "off" when I'm poorly, tired -or hungover- I had a virus over Christmas and it was off for a couple of weeks. I'm in my late 30s. Not sure if it's "normal" but it's normal for me!

curiousgeorgie247 · 23/02/2019 11:35

Yes they slightly over corrected her squint. I haven't seen her do it since. She gobbled some toast down thid morning. She seems to be ok now. If it happens again I will take her to the gp.
