I am miffed. I should not be, but I am.

I am undesirably miffed.

To set the scene, i live in the back of beyond, therefore I order a LOT online. I have done this for 12+years. My deliverers are brilliant, if i am not in, they brave the chicken conservatory (aka old greenhouse), and hide stuff there, or put precious stuff in the treehouse (no more than 5ft up).
I ordered some material at the beginning of February from EBay. Never got it. As it happens, the week of delivery, I was here all day, every day (car being repaired). So i contacted seller. For the past week ir so, all I have gotten from her is 'it has been delivered'. I have tried to engage her in, ya know, conversation. 'It has been delivered. Hermes told me so.' End of story.

Now, i KNOW people on EBay are ripped off, i KNOW that Hermes are shite. I know crap happens. But I am seriously peeved at essentially being called a liar. I know she doesnt know me, but i do 😁

After so long living here without so much as a missing fruit gum, I am fecking outraged at being accused of nicking £13 quids worth of cloth.

Fecking outraged i tell you 🤣

I know this is missing the point a bit, but I am so jealous that you have a chicken conservatory AND a treehouse!

allthingsred · 22/02/2019 17:57

Ask for tracking number.
If she doesn't give them open a case via PayPal or ebay.
At least you will get your money back

Toooldtobearsed2 · 22/02/2019 18:00

You might be missing the point @FetchezLaVache, but you have made me gigglel so thank you😁
The 'ladies conservatory' is an old greenhouse, at the end of their chicken run. We knocked a pane of glass out and equipped it with straw, boxes, mirrors and old footballs. They love it! We painted over the top glass to keep it cool and they are banned from it in summer.
The treehouse was there when we bought the place, so cant take credit for that, but it is quite impressive, quite keen on moving in there some nights when DH has a snore on😊

Oh my god you have a treehouse??? I would spend ALL my time in there ...

Toooldtobearsed2 · 22/02/2019 18:05

Thanks @allthingsred I will do.
I am just a bit thrown because I was trying to keep things low key and friendly, emailing her, nicely, to say 'oy, wheres my stuff'. She just keeps saying that hermes says it was delivered.
Will have to just throw in the towel and for the first time ever complain🙄

Tbh, Hermes have always been great for me - he is the chicken conservatory guy, and he leaves me funny notes on his delivered card, so quite sad that he is the co-accused😁

Blatant stealth boast. Chicken conservatory AND a tree house. Pffft.

Toooldtobearsed2 · 22/02/2019 18:19

Should I not mention the goats and woodland then? 🤣🤣🤣

All sounds boasty. Bloody hard work though! and I love every second

As a seller on Ebay I'm on the other side of this.

I receive a number of emails similar to yours, and, after I challenge them, the item frequently turns up, usually with a transparent excuse - found it in the greenhouse (item was delivered 3 months ago!), my grandson hid it behind the sofa, the neighbour had it (even though 3 emails ago I was told the neighbour didn't have it). The item normally turns up once I offer to escalate within Royal Mail.

So I do understand this from your seller's point of view.

But, I have had Hermes deliveries go missing. Do you know if your regular guy is around? (we have a lovely Hermes guy too) He may be away and the locum is a chancer, more likely lazy than dishonest. We can always tell when our regular guy is away

Your best bet is asking for the tracking, (seller should have uploaded this to your order on dispatch if they want Ebay to side with them). Then contact Hermes, they should have GPS co-ordinates for where it was delivered even if not sent signed for. If they won't tell you the answer, contact the seller and ask them to contact Hermes.

If the seller doesn't give you tracking, or you are struggling with Hermes, open a case in Ebay - it won't hurt the seller if they are honest. Serial scammers get banned by Ebay from opening cases, so I always ask my buyers to do this.

If the seller's feedback is good, it is unlikely they are lying (I'm assuming a business here) but if they sell a lot on Ebay, they will have had more scammers contact them, than honest buyers.

Good Luck

Toooldtobearsed2 · 22/02/2019 18:35

@AutumnDragon thank you for that, it actually helps a lot.

She has not provided a tracking number ( just been and checked), but says she has a tracking number and the item has been delivered. I said, very nicely, cos shit happens, sorry, but there has been no delivery here, to which her response was ' it has been delivered'.
It was small, £13 quids worth. I wont lose sleep over it, I am just smarting at the idea that someone who has never clapped eyes on me dares to think I am a fibber😁

On principle I'd escalate. If she'd sent it, she'd be sharing the tracking number.

Toooldtobearsed2 · 22/02/2019 19:06

Yes, I think I will, but need to wait 2 more days to do so.
To be honest, if she had been nicer about it, i probably would have let it go. I would be pissed off about not getting what I'd paid for, but accepting that stuff goes missing and why should she suffer.
BUT, she has been so snotty, I probably will ask ebay to step in.

Dont know if my Hermes man is in holiday, I have not seen him for a few weeks.

Urgh. Leaves a bad taste.....

It's sellers responsibility to get it to you. You shouldn't be out of pocket, report to eBay, you will get your money back after 30days or so.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 22/02/2019 19:27

Ask again for the tracking number and say if she doesn't give you it for you to track it yourself you will have no choice but to open a dispute. I'm not sure if Hermes is the same as royal mail but with royal mail it tell you the address and you can see the signature of whoever signed for it. I had this issue once and it turned out it was a different postman to normal and he had left it with a neighbour but not put a note through the door so we had no idea, the neighbour was waiting for us to collect it not knowing that we didn't know they had it, and it was only when we looked at the tracking and saw it was signed for by the neighbour that we realised!
