If you maintain a healthy weight, deliberately and fairly effortlessly, what do you eat?

I really want to lose weight by learning how to eat like a normal person. I'm around 4 stone overweight and have tried every diet under the sun. But diets just make me obsess about food and lead to binges. I've also tried intuitive eating but that doesn't work either. I reckon there has to be a middle ground. I'm really interested in what would be a typical days food for someone who makes an effort to stay slim but isn't obsessed with healthy eating and doesn't find it too taxing.

Height matters a lot I think. I am only 155cm and to maintain weight probably only need 1500 cals a day. My much taller friend seems to be om with 2100. Bear this in mind if you are shorter than average and looking at the recommended daily calorie intake of 2000.
My BMI is about 21 and previously was about 24 so although I wasn't medically overweight I didn't look the way I wanted and am happier now with my size.
I kickstarted my weight loss with 5:2 which is excellent and then have kept it off for several years by being mindful of calories, cutting out white carbs and crap but I do have the odd treat.

Another tip is to watch the cals in drinks and stick with only tea and water or black coffee on the whole. A latte and a large juice a day would make a difference over a few months.

Intuitive eating kind of describes how I eat (& it may count as sufficiently effortless). I maintain a healthy weight, anyway, & don't think much about food.

What about intuitive eating failed for you, OP?
