Salary/lifestyle reduction after breakdown - did it work out for you?

I had a major breakdown a few months ago and I'm now looking for work along a line that is more healthy for me and relevant to my interests.

This will require a substantial reduction in salary and paring back our lifestyle.

Has this happened to you? Was it worth it? I'm hoping a simpler life might be a better one, and I won't need to treat myself as much because I won't be miserable any more? Any words of advice?

Thanks in advance.

Reduced hours from full time to 22. My physical health was a disaster and my mental health not great either and it's still a struggle but I feel like I have more time to rest and more headspace. It's not ideal financially particularly as we rent so it effects being able to save for a deposit and I worry about the future but for now I know I'm doing what I can manage.

I did. Stepped down from a supervisor role and went to work for a charity supporting vulnerable adults. 10k pay cut and I’ve never been happier.

My mental health has improved enormously.

To the previous poster above I can understand where you're coming from as teaching has becoming something of a horrendous nightmare. I would never recommend anyone to become a secondary or primary school teacher in this country!
