I have a smallish flat cleaner will only work three hours minimum

She’s highly recommended and mine has cancelled me on the day twice in the last month she’s also not that great as she’s become too familiar. I feel bad but she can scarcely fit me in so it’s not like she doesn’t have the clients. She cost me £11 per hour and does two hours, The new one is £10 per hour but will only do three hours. I have an old flat and mutual hallway. Can I justify three hours should I then ask her to do the bedroom, oven etc? Or should I carry on with half a job from the one I’ve had for 7 years and trust implicitly? I’m not loaded so a cleaner is a luxury.

Would she do 3 hours every other week?

If you need a cleaner then persevere in finding a good one who does the job. May involve kissing a few frogs but don't keep paying for ones that aren't doing what you need.

Will the new one do your ironing & clean your fridge?

Can she do your ironing, change your bed & do a few things like that?

EachandEveryone · 21/02/2019 13:23

I have text and asked. I know they aren’t often keen on doing that. I keep thinking £120 a month v £88 is a big difference.

See if she will come in once a fortnight, and do more than just a basic clean (sheets, ironing, etc) or rotate through different deep cleaning tasks (fridge, oven, etc).

Leeds2 · 21/02/2019 13:25

I would've thought she would do the bedroom anyway, so certainly no problem asking her to do that. Nor the oven - if she does it every week, it shouldn't ever get into a state!
If she has any time left over, could she do some ironing?

EachandEveryone · 21/02/2019 13:25

Will she clean under the sofa would be a start. Mine goes through all my wardrobes and moves everything around even though I’ve asjed her not too.

Would you mind paying for the extra hour for her to do bed-changing, laundry (particularly ironing), or maybe some preparatory cooking?

EachandEveryone · 21/02/2019 13:28

The one I’ve got now does wash the cat bowls and change one of the litter trays if I ask her she’s even come in when I’m away to feed them. Not often but when I’m stuck. Which is a godsend as I’m on my own. I just feel like she doesn’t want to be there half the time. She spends over an hour in my bathroom and I still don’t know what she does in there.

Sorry - xposts - see those suggestions have already been posted.

The wardrobe thing sounds a bit odd tbh, my cleaner doesn't go in to any of my wardrobes or clothes drawers, ever. Sounds like she is doing what she likes to do, rather than what you need her to do. You have to anticipate a bit of this - get people to play to their strengths and all of that - but rearranging your wardrobe while not cleaning under the sofa sounds a bit extreme!

I’ll have to have a good think about it
