Should I have my gallbladder removed?

I have an appointment to have my gallbladder removed at Easter because I have gallstones.
They are generally unproblematic but theyre not going to go anywhere and will only get worse I suppose?
I feel a bubbling in my right side after eating rich food/ overeating which is disconcerting.
I just hate the thought of having an organ removed.
The Drs say it's up to me but it's a very safe op.
I have health anxiety since my mum died of cancer and I'm scared of there being complications.
Any stories of successful GB removals welcome.
Thank you.

I suffered for 3 years with the worst pains I had ever had before being diagnosed as having gallstones so different to you (although I suppose yours could turn painful). I had mine out in May last year. In and out on same day despite being last to be done. Couple of weeks of bedrest then other than occasional stomach muscle cramps for a couple of weeks because of the surgery everything has been fine since. So glad I had mine done.

I had years of gallbladder pain and was incorrectly diagnosed with IBS. Apparently I didn't fit the 'profile'. I can tell you that the pain will only get worse if you don't have it removed.
I've had a few surgeries and can tell you that gall bladder removable was by far the easiest. Recovery was about 2 weeks and I was in no pain, just mild discomfort.

Yes! Best thing I ever did (pain from gallstones were worse than child birth)

The old wives remedy for gallstones is apple cider vinegar, taken daily. Perhaps you could try that?

Thanks so much for the reassurance I really appreciate it. The Drs say that nothing else apart from removal is proven to be effective and that there aren't any known long term consequences so that's good.
I did have bad pain last year with it so I know how awful it can be.
Thank you all.
