I've been playing with this app and if it were Checkmate the game would stop but it hasn't. I know my chances of wriggling out of this mess are slim but what are my option here?

I'm white.

The piece at top right (h8) is a Rook. Black’s King is on d6.
OP’s White King is on g1 and is in check from the Black Rook on f1

So I see black and brown pieces. If you are black then takeout opponents king. If you are brown then take your opponents rook.

billybagpuss I assume the Rook got there by capturing a White piece that was previously blocking its attack.

Oh. In that case it looks like checkmate to me too.
Hate these computerised games, give me a proper chess set any day!

The OP made the mistake of not moving a pawn forward as an escape route before getting boxed in.

Wow many more responses than I was expecting! I can't deal with it right now as I've got to deal with DC but just to clarify...

Yes I'm the reddish brown colour (I suppose that's white?)

I think I'll have to retrace my steps because I can't remember how the rook got there without checking before Confused

Ok just quickly-

I had a knight next to the king which was taken by the black rook to put me into check/mate

I think the King thinks she is a Queen.
