Do you have a place somewhere in the world where you feel "spiritually" at home even if you have no actual connection to it?

That is the most convoluted thread title, apologies.
But I've had this weird feeling in about 3 places in my life, places which I don't actually have any deep connection to - one was a bar/restaurant, one is a park, and one is a famous historic landmark. I feel such a sense of belonging and peace in each of these places, and I can't at all explain what it is.

Does anyone else have this? Is there a name for it?

The Lake District. South Lakes in particular. Always feels like I’ve come home.

Another one for Paris and France in general. I just get on there. The sunsets are beautiful and the food matches the way I like to eat.

Marseilles in particular enchants me. I can feel the history flowing through the space and through me when there.

Havana and New York for me. I remember getting back and being asked why I hadn't taken many photos and realising it was because I felt so at home there I didn't think to take photographs.

The place in Spain I now live.
First visited over 20 years ago and and on and off since then.
I loved it from the first holiday and don’t know why but felt at home, DH reckoned he was not so keen.
I have worn him down over the years and now we live here. Grin

Japan. I went on what was going to be a one off holiday ten years ago and have been back many times since. Now I spend a portion of the year there every year. It's just way more "me" than England is. If I was younger I'd move there permanently, and my DS just has! But there's reasons I still need a base here.

These are fascinating. Particularly the ones who also have a really specific room, road or spot.

I do wonder what that is. I mean, I understand how the sea can have a calming peaceful effect, but for some of you it's a very specific "bit" of the sea.

It's also interesting that towns have quite distinct personalities about them.

My landmark place is somewhere I go every year, and I can't explain at all why I love it so much, but just touching the stones or sitting quietly in there gives me such a connection - I'm not even sure it's with the past as such, but maybe that's it? It has a very long, rich history. But then why don't i get that sense with every old monument I visit?
