How does Cex work?

My DSs like the idea of selling their old PS4 and Nintendo DS games and getting some Nintendo Switch games instead. I thought we might do it via Cex.

I've never even been into our local store so have no idea how it actually works. Can anyone enlighten me?

Check their website and see what it is worth. They pay way less than a private seller. For example they will probably buy a game from you for £2 then sell for £15. It's probably worth selling privately as they won't get anything near as much as they need for a switch. They part exchange too but again you would still need to stump quite a bitjof cash on top

Here’s the website. It gives price they’ll buy for for cash and for voucher, so if you’re looking to trade in for newer games then you’ll get a better deal.

I think it's quite good for buying - I got a second hand game console with 2 years warranty from them. I would imagine for selling you won't get the best deal but less hassle than selling on FB/eBay.

You literally go in, hand items to the assistant and they will give you a cash or credit price and you can choose whether to accept it

I did wonder about selling on FB - but you're right - it's the hassle factor. But I guess if we get more cash it's worth it!

I'll discuss it with the DSs and see what they want (they'll probably go for the more money option!).

Don't forget eBay will take a percentage off whatever you sell (10% I think) then pay pal take their cut too.
I love Cex, but they are a business and with cash they can be very tight, in this scenario though I do think it's probably the best option.

Check the website for hhow much they will give you. Some things are peanuts, some are quite fair, I think it depends on how in demand they are vs how many they have. We always check and make a call on what is worth exchanging, but it is very easy.

They pay pennies for your old/unwanted/stolen goods and phones/laptops that aren't working properly but you are able to hide that the battery lasts about 4 and a half minutes between charges, and then mark them up at about 50p less than full retail price.

That sounds more like Cash Convertors, at my local CEX they check everything out before they make you an offer and you get a warrenty
