Need to replace my teenagers mattress as springs are knackered though money is very tight!

My girls need something that will last one is a adult size 14 so need something suitable for adults really

Can anyone recommend a cheap mattress

I recommend a foam mattress, they can get quite hot though but no springs to dig into your back. You can usually buy a basic one for the same as a basic spring mattress.

We got the king size version of this and we’re very happy with it. We get bad backs and haven’t since we got this. Great price

The Tri zone silent night one is a good price and so comfy

Not sure how cheap you mean. I got one of John Lewis budget range mattresses for my spare bed and it's really comfy.

IKEA mattress are very reasonable and last well IME

hotchocdrinker · 17/02/2019 20:10

My 16-year-old son has this one from Ikea www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/mattresses/mattresses-toppers/hamarvik-sprung-mattress-medium-firm-dark-beige-art-40258724/ My daughter has the John Lewis economy one, and the Ikea mattress is definitely superior.

hotchocdrinker · 17/02/2019 20:11

Oh, and I can't remember about the John Lewis mattress, but the Ikea one comes rolled up so it's much easier to carry upstairs. Once it's been unrolled it just takes a couple of hours to 'settle'.

We have IKEA Hovags for DW and I, and a Hamarvik for the guest bed. Good supportive kit.

IKEA .... my daughter has one and when my mattress needs changing I'll be going for an Ikea one too

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 17/02/2019 21:00

Have a look in your local market. I recently got a double divas and very comfy mattress for £125

Justheretogiveaviewfrommyworld · 17/02/2019 21:19

Second Ikea (Hovag), 25 yr guarantee too.

floppybit · 17/02/2019 21:38

Ikea mattresses are fantastic quality, come with a guarantee and a couple of them have won Which Best Buy awards.

Avebury · 18/02/2019 21:10

Have also got an Ikea mattress and it is great

smurfmonkey · 18/02/2019 21:34

Thirding the Ikea Hovag mattress Grin

Grimbles · 18/02/2019 21:41

Another vote for IKEA- I find the cheap mattress we got from there for the spare room far more comfy than the £800 memory foam topped 'luxury' spring mattress we have in our room

BarbaraofSevillle · 18/02/2019 21:47

Ikea is a good idea or also see if you have any manufacturers locally.

We have several mattress factories nearby so sell seconds/end of line very cheaply - often the defects are minor or simply cosmetic - less than perfect stitching, slightly too much or too little padding, cover not on straight, that sort of thing.

British Heart Foundation shops might also be an option. DM tried to donate one that was nearly new and in perfect condition except for a very tiny stain and they wouldn't take it as it wasn't good enough.

burntdinner · 18/02/2019 22:08

Local to us is a chap who sells catalog returns that are brand new & still wrapped and also end of line mattress's I'm sure he's not the only person doing this , must be someone local to you selling them too ? Try local google ?
