Going through a difficult time just now and trying to find ways to keep my spirits up.

What things do you do that lift your mood?

Exercise helps me.

lottielady · 16/02/2019 09:18

Get outside in the fresh air, particularly somewhere green.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 16/02/2019 09:18

Whenever I feel rubbish I watch a few episodes of Dinnerladies!
Never get sick of it and always makes me laugh!

Yutes · 16/02/2019 09:19

Music. Even dancing it out.

brick15 · 16/02/2019 09:35

Getting out for fresh air with a walk, always seems to clear the cobwebs.
Also exercise works

brick15 · 16/02/2019 09:36

Go out with friends, dance it out somewhere.

Oct18mummy · 16/02/2019 09:36

See friends, arrange things to look forward to- holidays, spa etc x

GMtoBe · 16/02/2019 10:00

Fresh air, only fools and horses, a big cup of tea and some biscuits, cooking or baking, a hot bath, new pjs

weegiemum · 16/02/2019 10:06

Getting outside! I can't walk far (disabled) but love to get fresh air - I go in the back garden and throw a ball around for the mental dog for a bit. Last summer she painted the fence bright blue to cheer the place up in the winter!

Loud music. Our house is detached so I can crank it up quite a bit!

Eating a nice treat - I'm on SlimmingWorld so have to be careful but some Greek yoghurt with blueberries is really hitting the spot at the moment.

Cuddling the dog! When dh is away with work the dog sleeps on my bed and keeps me company!

sackrifice · 16/02/2019 10:08

For me it is the garden, or the allotment.

If I am really down, I'll go and turn the compost piles, it helps to get the spirits up and thoughts about all the veg I'll grow in that compost.

Rassy · 16/02/2019 10:28

Walking the dog, doing jigsaws and reading Alexander McCall Smith books.

OneThingOffTheList · 16/02/2019 12:09

Some good suggestions here ☺️ thank you!

Getting outside in the fresh air. It might seem too much effort but once I'm out I'm always glad I made the effort.

After 6 years of not going out in the evening (for various reasons), I've now made a lovely group of local friends through DS school and we go out for a meal every other month. I always feel good after that.

A change of scenery always helps too.

overtheirishsea · 16/02/2019 13:27

Exercise and music!

iklboo · 16/02/2019 13:33

Fresh sheets
Hot shower
Clean PJs
Good book
My favourite music (of the moment)
Maybe a glass of wine if it's weekend

MaMisled · 16/02/2019 13:36

Definitely exercise. Take a brisk walk to somewhere you can buy a posh coffee, preferably the scenic route. Work up a bit of a sweat by fast walking home then hot soak in a bubble bath.

OrangeJuiceandLemonade · 16/02/2019 13:39

Run

Then enjoy coffee ad chocolate afterwards

BlueMerchant · 16/02/2019 13:45

For me, a walk to the library (about a mile) for a good novel. I'll then walk to the shops and choose a nice bar of chocolate and treat myself to a nice bubble bath (£5 max). I then go home and enjoy some time to unwind and relax.

bumblingbovine49 · 16/02/2019 13:56

I.know exercise is.supposed to help and it does sometimes for me but not consistently. Sometimes I feel worse after exercise.

What works consistently for me almost without fail for me is singing with other people, preferably in harmony. I sing in casual fun non-auditioning choirs 3 times a week and often do day work shops. It never fails to lift.my spirits even if I.am really really down.
Other things that work( though less reliably) is listening to loud fun music , gardening/ growing .stuff and and beautiful scenery

howdoyoukeepawaveuponthesand · 16/02/2019 13:58

Make myself a nice coffee, have a couple of biscuits and watch an episode of an old favourite - Friends, Gilmore Girls, Frasier - always makes me feel more upbeat and chilled.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 16/02/2019 13:58

Watch YouTube videos of anumsls doing cute things.

Racoons have never let me down.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 16/02/2019 14:02

Get out for a walk.
Chat to a friend
Plan a day out/holiday
Read a trashy book
Buy something nice but not too expensive, just for me. Earrings, lipstick, nail polish, soap or posh chocolates or cheesecake usually.
Watch tv

moglovesredroses · 16/02/2019 14:07

Definitely getting out especially if the sun is shining.
Bright flowers/plants-I've picked up some lovely primulas for 99p each this morning to brighten up outside.
A good bop round the kitchen with tunes on

stepup123 · 16/02/2019 14:09

Being outside in nature, a cuddle with my dog and exercise can help me. Seeing friends is always good too, even if I don't feel like it!

gonegnome · 16/02/2019 14:11

Dance around the front room to awful cheesy 90s dance music. (must have the house to myself and the curtains shut!)
Sit in the sun
An evening with friends
