Any doctors or pharmacists about?

I fell down the stairs this morning, only about 5 stairs and on carpet. I feel like I've bruised my hip and back of pelvis but nothing broken. But the muscles just about keep going into little spasms.

We're off skiing tomorrow and I'm just wondering what home remedies I can use. I've put some deep heat on it but I also have a packet of Naproxen and wondered if they would help?

I would get it checked out before skiing but that's just me! (Not a doctor)

You want ice to reduce the swelling, not anything heat based (not a doctor).

Alternating heat and ice is actually the best combination for reducing swelling and healing. Vet/partner of cyclist. Anti-inflammatories for pain/inflammation so yes naproxen would help.

Start figuring out the best off-piste options just in case. :)

I offer you a hug I don't care if it's not mn approved.

I was in a&e 10 days ago after landing on my tailbone and the pain rising and rising till I couldn't take any more, thankfully I hadn't done any more damage to it, I have previously chipped a piece off but it now has come out in bruising and is less painful.

Epsom salt bath is full of magnesium which helps muscle spasms which in turn will help the pain and can lower gently into the bath and lie back

To give the tailbone area a bit of support and heat if you find heat helps, I recommend Thermacare back wraps. You adjust the band and in my experience holds best if can tuck it under any stomach fold to secure in place, this puts the heated area over your tailbone.

www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/265048808 - available in other supermarkets and high street shops

As someone on here reminded when I asked for ideas to help cos couldn't think due to pain, tailbone cushion = which has been brilliant too
