Feel like I'm not getting listened to again :(

Had reduced movements, I'm currently 18+2 and usually feel baby move quite a bit through out the day. Phoned maternity centre with no luck constantly in voicemail. Phoned midwife no luck. Phoned my local hospital spoke to gyno (think it is spelt like that) and she just said 'hmm maybe drink and eat) I have done this and no luck! 😭 she said they won't see me unless a ref from my midwife. So I phoned 111 and just waiting for a clinician to phone me back. The gyno women just made me feel stupid and said because of how many weeks I am I wouldn't be seen by maternity and they can't make me an appointment wtf. My head is going crazy with worry. Please tell me someone else has been through this and it's been okay 😭

Sorry you are worried
Realistically there is little they can do at 18 weeks and movements can be very variable at that gestation (some women get almost none still)

RandomMess · 15/02/2019 18:32

I have to agree that I think it's not until 24 weeks that you should be feeling consistent patterns of movement.

Thanks

Thanks for your replies. As I've been feeling them and now nothing it has my head all over the place. I'm such a worrier anyway and I'm just hoping it's me over reacting I just want someone to check the heartbeat just so I know :(

18 weeks sounds early for regular movements ...is it your first pregnancy? I didn't get more than the odd 'flutter' till 20 weeks with my first

MynameisJune · 15/02/2019 18:39

18 weeks is super early, baby is still small and has loads of room to move around. As there is nothing that the hospital can do at this stage they don’t monitor for reduced movements until after 24 weeks which is also when a baby is classed as viable and able to potentially live outside of its mother.

I’m sorry you’re worried, maybe book a private scan to check?

RandomMess · 15/02/2019 18:42

It's really common for them to move position so all the kicks are against the placenta this early on.

You May feel more like bubbles or tickles as well as flutters.

Thank you for all your replies. Doctor wanted to see me. Checked heartbeat and all good! (Touch wood)

Good news op
Sounds like a good strong baby if you've got strong movements already all the best

Auntiepatricia · 16/02/2019 07:34

You’re not supposed to count movements till about 28 weeks officially. The baby at 18 weeks is both too small to survive if there’s a problem and too small to be felt consistently. A lot of people haven’t even felt any movement yet at 18 weeks. So try to relax and accept that movement is not something to take notice of yet.

GinandGingerBeer · 16/02/2019 08:01

If it makes you feel better, I didn't feel any movements until 19 weeks with ds1
It's very early days and you sound very anxious, probably a good idea to get some support with that if you can. Thanks
