if you search for an image on-line, how do you know if it is copyright?

so, I'm looking for a picture to make a flyer about a church event, and I was scrolling through images on google, and I realised that it is very hard to tell if you can use them. Obviously some have copyright watermarks ect, but for those which don;t how do I know if it is OK to use it?

I want a picrure of a group of people (adults) so obviously don't want to use one that is not public, but is there any easy way to see?

You can go on shutter stock for this kind of thing

If an image exists it has copyright. There are reputable sites (shutterstock, etc) that offer a selection of images to use for free (it’s a loss leader for them).

Have you considered asking a photographer to create a set of images for you? It’s often very reasonably priced

don't you have to pay for shutter stock?

cross posts, Thank you

I realise all images have copyright, just some are freely available to use.
I didn't realise shutterstock was free, I'll go and have a look.

Don't have the budget for specially designed pictures, it is a small event.
