Oyster card covers first half of journey - what ticket?

Hi, I have a 60+ Oyster, which gives free travel within certain limits on lines which extend beyond London.

At the weekend I want to take the Thameslink line to a station beyond Boreham Wood, which is the last station covered by my Oyster card. I will get on the Thameslink train at a London station.

Can I buy a ticket where I get on to cover me for the journey beyond Boreham Wood?

Yes, just ask at the ticket office for an extension to your destination station, say you have a travel card to get to zone whatever.

That’s assuming there’s a ticket office, not sure how to do it on a ticket machine...

Could you buy your ticket in advance? You'll need a return from Borehamwood to your destination (and back), which you can do on thetrainline site. You can then collect your tickets from your local station. Thetrainline charge 75p for this, but I have found that if you book on the actual train operator's site, is it Thameslink?, they often don't make a charge, and you can still pick up your tickets from the machines at your starting station.

Thank you - I have done the Trainline thing.
