Holiday possibly pregnant

I am trying to convince at the moment.

My mum and sisters are planning a relaxing holiday abroad in July/August for the 4 of us without husbands.

I have never been pregnant before and wanted to ask opinions on travelling. Would you do it. I could be anywhere from 1-6 months pregnant. DH says go for it, it might take a while to conceive and I would regret not booking it. But I am a little nervous about it. Can't come it my finger on why.

I understand how you’re feeling. I choose not to travel once I knew I was pregnant. However, it took us ages to get pregnant and I do regret putting my life in hold for that time. While TTC, a big family holiday was booked and we agreed to go. I wasn’t pregnant by that time and was glad we had agreed to go!

We went on a big family trip from UK to florida when I was about 6 weeks. To be honest, it was no different to not being pregnant... If you're worried, get decent insurance, tell them if you do become pregnant and have a look at local hospital provision. But unless you're going to somewhere very remote or undeveloped, I'd book it and see closer to the time if you need to bail out from not feeling well enough

Just be careful about countries with the zika virus and you'll be fine. Enjoy!

Wear loads more sunscreen than you think you'll need. I got sunburnt in bad weather on a holiday in Cyprus while pregnant and now I have cow-like patches on my face. And they'll stay for the ret of my life. (And I don't normally get burned.)

Pay a bit more, book flexible flight tickets and a hotel you can cancel.
I'd go at 4/5months but not after 6 I think.
I had SPD by then and travelling would have been a nightmare.
I travelled loads in early pregnancy and it was no different. Just be careful of zika, lifting things and what you eat.

We were invited to a trip to Rome in June/July and I would have said no either way because I loathe heat and crowds, but we were also trying to conceive and well now I'm pregnant with twins, so I can't imagine being 23-30 pregnant (with twins) in a hot ass country during peak tourist season. Hell no. I also wouldn't go now while I'm still in the 1st trimester because I am exhausted, constantly nauseous, have acid reflux ALL THE TIME, and am generally bloody miserable.

Depends on your temperament and what kind of pregnancy you're having I think. My last pregnancy (missed abortion unfortunately with singleton) I was not at all as poorly as I am now.

*23-30 weeks pregnant

DH and I had a holiday abroad when I was pregnant with DS1, it was a hassle free pregnancy and we had a lovely holiday.

SoyDora · 15/02/2019 20:03

I’ve been on loads of holidays abroad while pregnant, ranging from 8 week to 32 weeks over the course of 3 pregnancies. All fine! The worst was probably when I was 8 weeks as I had horrific morning sickness and food aversions, but to be honest if you’re going to feel crap anyway you may as well be on holiday! At 32 weeks pregnant I just had to remember to drink plenty of water and not spend too much time in the sun.

Went to New York at 13 weeks, threw up all over the city and needed to plan naps into the day but other than that it was fine.

DelurkingAJ · 15/02/2019 20:13

Went away at about 6 months for a long weekend in South of France with DM and DSis. Had a ball. Did nap whilst they sunbathed in the mid afternoon. But I had two ‘very boring’ (quote from the midwife) pregnancies with no significant problems. Can I strongly suggest you get travel insurance when booking (before you know you’re pregnant!) so if you get e.g. SPD you can claim.

You are making me feel much more positive. Thank you. I think I am going to go for it.
