Book recommendations for 13 year olds

We are about to get on a flight and I need to buy a book for my 13 year old but it’s such a hard age. She’s past all the stuff like Northern Lights, Hunger Games etc. She enjoyed a few adult novels like Kite Runner and The Curious Incident but sadly she can’t seem to get into books written too long ago like Little Women or To Kill a Mocking Bird.

I’m at a loss! What have other 13 year olds enjoyed reading recently?

I don’t have a 13 year old but what about something by John Green? Also, Holly Smale’s Geek Girl series is fab and although that’s finished she just released a new book which I think starts a new series.

My 14 year old DD is reading ‘The Hate U Give’ by Angie Thomas. She says it’s really good.

My 12 year old is planning to take To All The Boys I Loved Before and Caraval on holiday with her.

Thanks. She loved The Hate You Guve so things like that are definitely along the right lines. I will look at All The Boys and Caravel. She’s read Geek Girl but all great suggestions.

What about Daughter of Time by Josephine Tay?

Definitely recommend John Green books. Juno/James dawson does some pretty good books too.
If she's into supernatural stuff I loved The Darran Shan Saga - maybe a bit young for her but I loved them and still do. Miss Peregrines home for peculiar children is also amazing.

my nearly 12 yo just finished and enjoyed Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro - it's a good bridging book between YA and adult fiction proper

DD enjoyed all the Patrick Ness books, The Knife of Never letting go (and the rest of the Chaos Walking series).
She’s currently reading the Charlie Higson YA The Enemy series about zombies.

Angus, thongs and full frontal snogging. She will love it.
