Any Planners around? It’s about a Yurt....

Hello, our school wrap around club desperately needs more space. There is no inside space available, but plenty of outside space. One option we are looking at is a Yurt. We could afford a 6m Yurt, and the additional space would be enough.

I know there might still issues around toilets, but would a Yurt that is permanently erected need planning permission?

No, because a yurt can't be permanently erected - it will always be possible to take it down and fold it up.

Ask the planning department or have a look at their website.

A yurt is usually considered a temporary structure under planning regs, can you not build some sort of semi permanent structure like a home office / shed, thats what my school did.

You can build an interior floor that is the same as decking really, and as long as you don't concrete the walls and tile over the roof, you still have a tent.

Thank you all.

No, the school governors will not allow this. They don’t want us to take up playspace pemanentjy (or what they consider to be permanently). Although they are unhappy that we are turning people away.
