Candle jar wax remains angst.

I've burnt my Christmas Berry candle right to the bottom of the glass jar. How do I remove the last of the wax so I can recycle the glass?

(Most middle class problem evah?)

Hot soapy water

abbsisspartacus · 13/02/2019 18:31

Heat and pour

jua890 · 13/02/2019 18:32

put jar in boiling water bowl to melt enough to pull wax out.

Mysterian · 13/02/2019 18:34

Just hot tap hot then? Thought candle wax was made of sterner stuff.

Thank you.

I suppose I could pour that wax into another candle jar!

Or would that be a crime against the art of the smelly candle maker?

Put on the slow cooker lid while cooking (or Aga!) and then pour into the bin.

g0bbledyg00k · 13/02/2019 18:37

Put in the freezer for a few days then give it a bash and it will fall out

AlanThePig · 13/02/2019 19:13

Pan of boiling water, put the jar in. Tip the wax into a silicone cake mould or ice cube tray (has to be silicone!) and when set pop them out to use as drawer fresheners.

MollysLips · 13/02/2019 19:15

Fill the jar with boiling water. The wax will lift out in one chunk. It's magical.

Then you can reuse the wax to make tealights.

SimoneStrasser · 13/02/2019 19:22

I do love getting the wax out , like recycling a glass candle jarSmile

BigStripeyBastard · 13/02/2019 19:24

Whack it in the freezer.

Tulipvase · 13/02/2019 19:26

I just run a knife round the edge and then underneath and lift it out. Depends if you can get your hand/knife in I guess.

Newtonthehorizon · 13/02/2019 19:27

Obviously I'm doing it wrong because I use a knife to lever it out into the bin then give the empty jar a good wash!

Newtonthehorizon · 13/02/2019 19:28

Cross post with Tulipvase

Bluesheep8 · 13/02/2019 19:28

However you get it out, let it solidify again and put it in an oil burner. That's all Yankee wax melts are!

Mrsemcgregor · 13/02/2019 19:31

Get the metal disc the wick is attached to out and then microwave!

Mysterian · 13/02/2019 19:49

I put boiling water on it. All the wax has floated to the top. Just letting it cool now. The wax looks like it will form a disc at the top. The most fun evening I've had for months. (But I am 44.)

I have a bash about with a palette knife. It's almost as much fun as starting a new candle. I have very few hobbies.

Doingthedo · 13/02/2019 20:21

I melt it as described above then make a cocktail of candle leftover bits! I even bought some new wick online (very cheap) and make new ones
