If you've had flu this year how long before you recovered?

I've been totally floored by the flu since the weekend.
High temperature, awful cough, headache, all over aches and pains. No appetite and not sleeping much.
I feel totally depleted. Luckily I don't have to work til the weekend and DH was able to help with school run etc. yesterday and i got to stay in bed but today I have to get up and get the kids out, arrange something for dinner and probably do other things that my fuzzy brain has forgotten.
I barely have the energy to get to the bathroom.
Hoping someone will come along to tell me I'll be back to normal by tomorrow.

It's interesting that some posters are saying they had a milder version and then got hit by the full on deal! I think this happened to me. About 2 weeks or so ago I had what i thought was a cold or virus. Achey muscles, sore throat, tired but it went after a few days.
When I got this dose I couldn't believe my bad luck in getting I'll again so soon. Thinking about it though I never felt 100% afterwards so maybe it is all part of this horrible virus.

There's been some kind of stubborn virus in our family. I don't know if it's flu or what.

DS1 finished school early just over 10 days ago, looked pale like a ghost. All of us shattered over the weekend. Sleep phobic DS2 slept for 18 hours!!! DS1 hot/ cold flushes, hacking cough, streaming nose. DS2, dizzy. Both missed the Monday off school. Both returned in basic function mode but were tired all week, no extra curriculars, just school, TV, early night. They've just got some colour back and started playing again but still going to sleep more readily than usual. Both had flu vaccines before Christmas.

DH been off work 8/ 9 days, longest I've ever known in 15+ years. Totally drained. Hacking cough. No appetite, weight falling off, dizzy, temperature all over the place. Only really begun venturing out of bed today after days of dozing in quiet and darkness.

I am 77years old and have experienced REAL flu about four times. It completely floors you. It is difficult to stand up and doing anything is near impossible. Each time it took me weeks to get back to normal. I remember starting it one Christmas and I was still coughing and not myself in March. However, the last time was New Year 2000. We both had it and we had also had the flu jab. That made the difference and within two weeks we were almost back to normal. Hope you soon feel a lot better. It’s when you have children that need looking after that it is most difficult.

I’ve just about got over it - completely floored for 4-5 days, then could move but lightheaded and felt shit for another week. Just about recovered completely after 3 weeks. Ds has also had it and has had a week off school. He’s back now but he’s still very tired and not 100%

Just after Christmas and I still don't feel 100% now Sad
