why would the gp surgery call and ask me to make an appointment?

Why would they do that? The receptionist said it wasn't urgent.

I last went to the GP at the end of last year, had some blood tests but rang for the results and was told they were all normal. I saw the dr about the work-related stress/ anxiety I had, but I didn't want signing off work so she gave me the number to self-refer for CBT or whatever talking therapy they offer locally (I didn't call them). DH said maybe she wants me to come back to check I am ok now, but surely she would just have told me at the time to make an appointment to come back in a month or 2. Also, surely she doesn't have the time or the inclination to check up on the thousands of patients she sees, especially ones like me who don't follow her advice.
Now I've got 2 weeks to worry about what on earth the appointment is about.

Honestly and truly, if it was anything urgent you would be seeing them today.

It sounds like a nice follow up, rather than a 'must do', so just relax 😊

You could phone them and ask why you need to make an appointment bit like a pp said it's not going to be anythingvirgent if it's for 2 weeks time.

Maybe they are doing “Wellwoman” type check ups/ MOT type things?

it could be a follow up , if you take any medication it flags up a med review sometimes , you can just ask you know and if the receptionist isn't sure she can ask the doctor why. I'm a receptionist we just send a message to the doctor if the patient has a query.

My guess is its to meet some target or other they have for health screening.

Didn't you ask?

FadedRed · 12/02/2019 18:19

Have you just turned 40/60/70?
There are NHS ‘Well person’ checks that can start at those ages?

OpalIridescence · 12/02/2019 18:23

I received a letter asking me to make an appointment urgently as they 'had information' for me.

Worried all weekend as had a biopsy a month before, turned out they felt I was filling migraine medication prediction too often.

Could it be anything like that?

Seniorschoolmum · 12/02/2019 18:25

How old are you? Some GPs do a health check at specific ages or every 10 years. I had a request last year because they hadn’t seen me in 10 years, only my ds.

WhatTheNightBrings · 12/02/2019 18:31

Could it be that she knows you haven't followed up on her recommendations for CBT referral?
