My mum was stuck in Dubai with 400 people for 36 hours she’s 80 and completely traumatised there was no communication whatsoever and they got herded to a hotel like cattle no help with their luggage on and off the plane. I need to help her complain I don’t really know where to start.

Try Martin Lewis money very helpful with all of this

Under an EU Directive I was able to claim the maximum amount for a delayed flight from India, about £450. We were delayed overnight.

Here is the link, it's very easy just enter flight details. The money was in my account in about a week.

Unfortunately it was a chartered flight as part of a package so it wont be straight forward.

Makes absolutely no difference whatsoever if it was chartered or scheduled.

EachandEveryone · 12/02/2019 11:06

Yes but they cant fill in that EU form as theres no booking number and its the first question that comes up. Theyve been told this as it was part of P&O cruises

If the cancellation was their fault, ie broken planes or staff shortages not weather, strikes, drones, volcanos etc, then you are due compensation and just need to fill in the details in wests link above to claim compensation.

BarbaraofSevillle · 12/02/2019 11:11

There will be a booking number for the cruise?

If that doesn't work due to 'computer says no' over the booking reference format, use the MSE resolver tool.

BarbaraofSevillle · 12/02/2019 11:17

Actually, looking at that form again, the booking reference isn't a required field, so either leave it blank or add the cruise booking reference.

All they need to know is that your DM was on a flight that was cancelled and is hence entitled to compensation.

StarlightLady · 12/02/2019 11:26

There should be a booking confirmation somewhere with a booking reference on it. If not insert the flight number.

Sukochicha · 12/02/2019 12:08

You do have to be prepared to accept when traveling that your flight may be cancelled or severely delayed. You mah face disruption.

If you’re going to be “traumatised” by being taken to a hotel on a. His and having to wait a day for your new flight - prob best not to travel internationally.

MrsChollySawcutt · 12/02/2019 12:12

I second the MSE Resolver process, it's really quick and easy.

Westfacing · 12/02/2019 15:37

The booking reference is not a required field (no red asterisk).

My flight was part of a holiday package.

WickedGoodDoge · 12/02/2019 17:18

I also recommend the Resolver website. Over the past 2 years I’ve claimed just over £5k compensation for delayed or cancelled flights. I have very bad luck with flights! It’s easy to use and free.

EachandEveryone · 18/02/2019 09:12

They are having no luck I wonder if they should go through their own insurance. They did you back on the plane they were supposed to it had to be repaired.

MrsChollySawcutt · 18/02/2019 10:46

I think you need to concentrate on the delay - how long was it, how much of their ongoing holiday did they miss out on rather than the 'trauma' aspect. The former is easily monetised the latter is totally subjective.
