4 year old - sore willy - Doctors?

DS shouted in pain last night when putting his pjs on that his willy was sore.

The pjs were freshly washed and dried so we got him to take them off, just incase it's the washing powder (although he's not complained before). I got him to lay down and put some germaline on and he cried out in pain. He refused to put any pants or pjs on so slept in his birthday suit last night.

This morning he complained again it was sore and it's red underneath - from the tip to the scrotum area on the underneath. I managed to get him to calm down and put some sudocrem on. He again cried out in pain. I put him into little boxer type underpants as opposed to Y fronts and sent him to school. He complained once or twice en route that it hurt.

I couldn't get through to our doctors (surprise surprise). Have just called now and got him an appointment for 4.30.

Am I being a bit daft taking him to get checked?

Of cause not, he's in pain. That's what the GP is for surely??

It's probably balanitis.

WiltedDaffs · 11/02/2019 14:59

Not daft at all. Both my boys had this around that age, was an infection and doctor prescribed fucidin cream.

My DS has had this. Can’t remember what it is called but it can be a mild infection in the willy. He got some anti fungal type cream I think.

Yes fucidin that was it!

Thanks all. I mentioned to a friend and she said something like "God, you must have your own seat there!" I have a few chronic, long term medical conditions so do see he GP "often" compared to her who says she wouldn't go unless on death's door.

Made me feel a bit guilty - like I might be wasting the GP's time.

Fuck what your friend thinks. Is she a medical professional?

A little boy - a four year old is in pain and discomfort. Of course you should take him to the doctor .

More fool her for not going to the doctor's until she's on death's door. It might be too late then, dozy cow.

Sorry but people like your friend get my back up!

I almost dread saying anything to her... I can't help that I have Hydrocephalus, depression, underactive thyroid, ME and an iron deficiency... believe me. It's embarassing.

He’s in pain. You’re doing the right thing in getting him checked out by the GP.

I had a sore thumb once after gardening. It was a bit red on the tip so I ignored it. I'm sure your friend would have approved of me not wasting the doctor's time.

That was until the redness and soreness started travelling up my arm. Was prescribed heavy duty antibiotics for what was a serious infection, and told off for not coming in sooner.

She doesn't sound like much of a friend.

@Jitters22 my Mum did similar - ended up in hospital with good old Sceptacemia as it used to be called.
