Poor woman stuck abroad because her insurers won't pay up

I feel really sorry for her and her family, it must be dreadful.

However she didn't tell them she was on medication and had ongoing health conditions - If you are on any medication or have any ongoing condition it does show its worth telling the insurers and swallowing the slightly increased premium upfront. I have epilepsy so my holiday insurance is always a few pounds higher

Hope she manages to pull through :(

Slightly off topic, but when declaring previous illnesses etc how far do you have to go back? I put down literally everything I've ever had even if it's 20 years ago. Is it necessary?

When I've been filling in forms, it usually says "..... in last 5 years" or whatever, but if in doubt, then you phone them and ask.

Could flying aggravate any lung complaints ? Lower pressure filthy air for hours on end ?

I've been told by my consultant to avoid flying. I have a chronic lung condition and low immunity and she's said I'm very very likely to get an infection and spend my holiday in hospital.

She hasn't said I can't fly but that she wouldn't advise it. Insurance quotes were stupid high last year anyway, I've not been in hospital as an inpatient for almost a year now so it should drop a little bit I've had at least 12 chest infections in the last eighteen month the risk just isn't worth it to me.

It's her fault the insurer won't pay however I do feel for her. I have MND and declare everything as you should when booking insurance. It's not much more than if I didn't declare it.
I reckon she did it by mistake as it would of added pence on if she'd declared it.
