Scam text messages

This is the second time I have received a text message from a scam saying I'm subscribed to a service for £4.50 each week

First one I reported to my mobile provider o2 and then had to argue to get them to refund the charge as they said it's nothing to do with them.

It's just happened again.
I'm sitting here watching TV, not touched my phone and a message pops up saying subscribed service £4.50 per message.

O2before said that these scams get your number through clicks on a website but I haven't clicked on any adverts or been on any websites other than the normal sites I follow.

If this was a bank and someone was fraudulently taking money from my account it would be a major problem so why doesn't o2 seem to think it is a problem they should be helping to tackle and is there anything I can do to stop it?

Are they actually taking money? Sometimes this is bait to reply to the message.

Hi!

I literally had this yesterday. Does the text include a 5 digit number to text STOP to? If so, check the number here psauthority.org.uk/for-consumers/service-checker to see if it’s a legit number registered with this Payforit thing! (I did some research 😳) If it is then it’s safe and you can text STOP.

Good luck, I hope it goes away soon. They shouldn’t be allowed to get away with this sort of thing, trying to get money from innocent people that genuinely haven’t subscribed to anything! I know you probably tried to ignore the text thinking it was nothing but I’d strongly suggest you check the number that you text STOP to, then doing so if it’s safe. That way you won’t be paying a ridiculous phone bill Confused
