Garden birds nesting

I've just been observing a pair of collared doves renew their vows, so to speak (they pair for life) but it struck me that it may be quite early in the year for nest-building and egg-laying. Are there any birds in your area that appear to be preparing for breeding ? I've only really noticed the pair of CDs; the jackdaw, magpies and wood pigeons all hang around in several numbers so I don't know what they're up to, if anything.

I think it might be normal. Just affirmation behaviour. I watch peregrines that nest on a cathedral spire (webcam). They have been displaying, courting & occasional (apparent) mating for a few weeks. Warm up season, maybe!? They'll lay their eggs late March or early April IIRC.

The blue tit is staking out his territory, attempting to scare off his own reflection.

I found an egg in my garden the other day. Appeared to have fallen to the ground from a nest. No idea what it is, but we have goldfinches nesting there usually.

I caught two blackbirds shagging under the magnolia tree a few weeks ago , I did advert my gaze to give them some privacy 😁

Where I work, there are lots of bushes and trees favoured by bullfinches, goldfinches and woodpigeons so they should be busying themselves soon.
