Sorry another instant pot question/thread

Hi all

I know there have been a million instant pot threads but wanted to ask a question for those of you who have one.

Am really tempted to get one - but - are they mainly useful for sauce type recipes ( so stews, casseroles) etc? My eldest DS is a bit of a fussy eater and generally only likes ‘dry’ food. Having said that he loves rice, roast meat, mac cheese, risotto occasionally will eat cottage pie, bolognaise. But not a fan of stews generally. Would it still be worth getting one? I do make a lot of soups in my current pressure cooker.

Am in 2 minds as to whether to go for it. Partly tempted as it seems it might make roast meat more tender and quicker too?

Also does it take a lot of getting used to ( just knowing myself and whether I’d spend the time needed to get up to speed with something complicated!).

Thanks!

The majority of slow cooker recipes are for more liquid meals, but there are so many recipes around for slow cookers these days that you will still have a massive choice of dry dishes.
I’ve made slow cooker mac and cheese www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/food/recipes/a574738/slow-cooker-macaroni-cheese/
Apart from the usual stews and casseroles, I also make lasagne, bolognese, pulled pork, jambalaya www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/food/recipes/a574746/slow-cooker-prawn-and-chorizo-jambalaya/ bread pudding and pasta bake slowcookerrecipes.org.uk/chilli-pasta-bake.htm
You can also use it for jacket potatoes www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/food/recipes/a578185/slow-cooker-jacket-potatoes/

I love my Instant pot. I use it for casseroles but also risotto, paella, jambalaya, biryanis and other similar rice based dishes. I can cook a whole chicken in less than 40 mins and large gammon joints in 30 mins. I bought it in October and have used it constantly. Great for Mac n cheese

I also use it to make Greek yoghurt, soups, and batch cook veg such as mashed potatoes, carrot swede mash for freezer and parboiling potatoes for roasties

There's loads of blogs you can use for ideas and the Facebook UK group is also great.

You do have to change how you cook but I'm now able to adapt my old recipes

Today in my IP I browned some bacon chorizo and onions, then added pasta and just covered with boiling water. I did manual pressure cook for 0mins. Took off the lid and stirred in grated cheese and cream cheese. Absolutely lovely, one pot used, no prep, no need to watch it.

Yesterday I didn't chicken breasts in the bottom with a splash of white wine, opinions and garlic. Put chunks of unpeeled sweet potato in a steamer above it. Pressure cooked for 5min. Took out the basket of potato, added cream and frozen peas to the pot and brought back up to temp. Slipped the skin off the sweet potato and mashed it gently. Delicious, again one pan and no prep, no watching.
